Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming staff are the most repeated draw, with servers and bar staff described as polite, attentive and helpful, and several reviewers saying they will return with family or as regulars. The food backs this up. Diners single out the fish and chips with crispy batter and light, flakey fish, a southern fried chicken burger, and the new menu's onion bhajis and soup with croutons. Two reviewers say a discount voucher made the meal good value, and one enjoyed the pub quiz. The main complaint comes from one detailed review of a chicken dinner with a tiny portion of mash, no stuffing or pigs in blankets, and dry chicken that seemed reheated. The same reviewer describes the replacement pigs in blankets as burnt, a child's meal that arrived cold with hard peas, and a dispute with staff over the complaint. Another reviewer notes a longish wait for food. Several close on the quiet afternoons, window tables overlooking fields and the small play area out back.

“The pub was quiet given the time of the day, the staff were both very welcoming and friendly. We ordered drinks and sat whilst we decided on food (5 of us were eating). The fish and chips were delicious! The batter was crispy, the fish was light and flakey - we'd be back just for the decent and fish and chips to be honest. My husband had a burger which he said was lovely too. Nice little place, clean, and a lovely view out the back with a little play area. Overall, a lovely experience, thank you.”

“I wasn't expecting much given some of the reviews but, other than the longish wait for the meal, it was a fine experience. Suprisingly good food, delightful staff and a nice ambience. Add the -40% discount voucher for mains and there's a lot to like!”

“Ashley was exceptionally friendly and helpful as were the ladies behind the bar (Lily and another lady). The food was top notch, really satisfying and we had a lovely afternoon outside. Can’t recommend this place enough; the service and the warm welcome from Ashley really made our visit memorable and this is our new regular.”

“I was greeted by Daisy who was really friendly and then Rachel showed me my table which was perfect. I was served by Tom who was a happy and cheery chap. The meal was great (I had the ultimate southern fried chicken burger) and the views were perfect. I come here a lot in the summer to sit in the beer garden. A big thank you to Daisy Tom and Rachel for making my experience perfect! I will be returning soon”

“Food was really good, and with the 40% off voucher from Marstons, was exceptionally good value for money. Found a nice table by the window overlooking fields... a beautiful view. Atmosphere was nice, relatively quiet, as it was mid afternoon on a Wednesday... but was just what I was looking for! Ash and her female waiting staff were attentive and polite. Will definitely make the effort to go back with family and friends. Thanks Ash!”
