Customer Review Summary

Sunday lunch draws the most attention, with diners describing a nicely cooked carvery, fresh trimmings in good variety and a homemade nut roast one reviewer calls the best they have had. Close behind are the generous portions, such as ham, eggs and chips with salad and pickle, and a lamb shank with tasty vegetables. A Sunday breakfast also arrived quickly despite a busy room. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and polite, and several call the pub clean and homely, with tables well spaced. One reviewer suggests booking even on weekdays. Complaints centre on seasoning and execution. One diner called the gammon the saltiest they had eaten, another found the pepperoni pizza very salty, and scampi came too well done with one hollow piece. A banoffee pudding was mostly cream with very thin banana slices. One reviewer also found it less than welcoming to be asked whether they had booked on every visit. Motorcyclists mention it as a stop, and one received a discount for bikers.

“Everything we've had so far has been lovely. Good portions of well cooked fresh food. Waiting staff polite and attentive. The Sunday lunch impressive. Definitely book, even weekdays as it is popular. Don't worry its fairly big and the tables well spaced, so never feels crowded. Average meal £16 - £18 but the quality and size of the meal make it well worth it.”

“If you’re looking for a nice spot for a Sunday breakfast, this place is a really good choice. It was quite busy when we got there, so we thought we’d be waiting a while, but everything came out really quickly. The waitress who served us was lovely and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Our breakfast arrived fast and was really nice. The place itself has a lot of character and a cosy, relaxed vibe. It was definitely worth the hour-long motorbike ride to get there. Also a nice bonus — they give a 10% discount for bikers, which was a really cool touch 👍 Overall, a friendly place with good food, quick service, and a great atmosphere. Would happily go again.”
