About The Five Bells
The Five Bells is a thatched-roof pub on Wood St in Swindon, set in a Grade II listed building with an original open fire. It holds CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2023, 2024 and 2025. The bar keeps seven cask real ales on rotation, with craft ales, cider and prosecco alongside them. The kitchen cooks meals in-house with produce from local suppliers. The menu runs from the Parisian burger, which has a fully vegan version, to dirty fries, and a Sunday roast is also on offer. Vegetarian and vegan dishes sit on the food menu. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers are the draw at this pub, with reviewers calling them brilliant, big and juicy, and one naming the Parisian burger as among the best they've had. A vegan version of the burger also gets praise, and the scotch eggs, fish and chips with homemade mushy peas, and the "Big Dea" dirty fries come up as well. Several describe a wide, changing range of real ales, plus cider and Prosecco in snazzy glasses. Reviewers describe friendly staff, a warm, cozy, local feel with a table by the fire, and a covered outdoor area that welcomes dogs. Vegetarian and vegan options are called surprisingly good. Popularity is the main trade-off: several suggest booking ahead for food, and one couple could not get a table on their first visit. One reviewer was given the wrong beer that didn't taste good, and their coke from the tap was watered down. Another waited a little while for a burger. Even so, the closing note from a reviewer is that food arrived very quickly once ordered.

“A friendly local pub with a great range of real ales and craft ales. The food menu is also very good. There are a range of burgers, pub classics along with an extensive 'dirty fries' choice on the menu. I had the fish and chips, which was really good. I am not keen on mushy peas, but the homemade ones were really good. My partner had the 'Big Dea' dirty fries, which she said were fantastic. It is worth booking because it is always very popular. This was our third visit. The first time, they weren't able to accommodate us due to how busy it was. I very strongly recommend a visit, if you want a reasonably priced pub with a decent menu and regularly changing beers.”

“An absolute gem of a pub run by a wonderful team. The attention to detail was superb, the food incredible and very flavourful. One of those places that make you feel so at home you don't want to leave. Only heartbroken that we don't live nearer!”

“I popped in as was working in the area. It was an hours drive home and I was starving. Checked local places for dog friendly pubs serving food. It scored high so I gave it a try. It did not disappoint. I had the Parisian burger, honestly 1 of the best burgers I've ever had. If you are a meat and burger lover try this place. The burger was big, juicy and meaty. Had to wait a little while but we'll worth the wait. If you like McDonald's burgers its probably not the place for you. If you like juicy thick patties and proper meaty burgers then I would highly recommend. I'll definitely be back next time I'm working in the area, damn fine burger.”

“Met up with some old Friends. Couldn’t find the pub to begin with. Asked a local, who replied. Down that road and “best pub in Bassett “ and I would agree. We didn’t eat. But, Beer and Cider was lovely. Girls had Prosecco, which they both loved. Served in snazzy glasses. Really good and will be back again.”
