About The Glue Pot
The Glue Pot is a pub in Swindon's historic railway quarter in Old Town, near the train station, at 5 Emlyn Square. Guest cask ales rotate, with several from Hopback, and a chalkboard lists each one with tasting notes. A separate cider selection sits alongside them, and the beer list includes Downton Chimera Ipa and Great Heck Trafalgar. Inside, partitioned wood booths and barrel tables fill the room. Drinks are ordered at the bar, where cheese and pickle rolls are available. A quiz night is held at the pub, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to The Glue Pot for its real ales, with Hopback beers named most often, including Crop Circle and Summer Lightning. Several describe a chalkboard of guest ales with tasting notes, plus a separate range of ciders, all well kept and reasonably priced. Close behind is the no-frills, traditional feel, with friendly locals, a welcoming host and quick, efficient service at the bar. Snug wooden booths and seating inside and out get a mention, and one reviewer enjoyed the quiz night and its quiz master. Cheese and pickle rolls are singled out as tasty, soft and generous. The one caveat is variety: one reviewer found the selection mainly Hopback beers, though they said that was not a bad thing, and another noted the range as the usual one. A packet of crisps, a pint and a book in a booth is how one visitor sums up an easy stop.

“A rare find, an old town pub as they used to be. No frills, bells or whistles, just good, well kept ales (from independent breweries) and friendly efficient service. Don't need any more than that.”

“Traditional boozer quite close to the train and buss stations, in an area that is caught between Swindon's Engineering hayday and the future. Swindon South of the railway appears to be in flux. On the plus side they had a great range of cask ales including quite a few from Hopback. Later in the evening I eould have enjoyed a summer lightning, but as it was early I chose a more session option.”
