About The Clifton
The Clifton is a pub on Clifton Street in Old Town, Swindon, just off Kingshill. A weekly quiz night gives the pub a regular event, and a league size pool table and a large garden add more to do. Rugby and football show on Sky Sports and BT Sport across 5 screens. At the bar, Arkells beers run on cask and keg alongside hand-pulled ales, ciders, and a range of gins and vodkas. Food trucks visit regularly. The interior has been refurbished recently, and dogs are welcome both inside and outside. The side garden can be hired for private events.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the friendly, family run feel of this pub, with several calling the staff and service great and describing a welcoming community atmosphere full of regulars, dogs and kids. The Guinness is called good, and reviewers mention a decent range of Arkells beers, local brews and a good selection of spirits, gin in particular, though one wishes for more cask options. Several note the refurbishment, describing the inside as bright, vibrant, clean and fresh, and one calls it a great place to watch sport. One quiz night visitor found the quiz good with humour and the staff wonderful. Complaints are fewer but specific. One reviewer finds it difficult to get a seat, another calls the bartender rude and the ambience dull, and a third says the landlords asked their group to give up its table straight away because they chose not to join the Wednesday quiz, cutting short their drinks and conversation.

“Always find the service here is great. My friend moved in down the road so been here a few times, family run pub, always friendly and the Guinness here is good. Haven’t tried the food but I know they get food trucks coming regularly and will try at some point! Could have more Cask options, but understand it’s limited with Arkells.”

“Came for the quiz. Staff were wonderful. A good quiz with humour. I noticed the team sat opposite us, who eventually won the money, in between categories were on their phones. Maybe they weren't cheating, but who's to know 😞 The quiz master x 2 and staff in general are wonderful but not enough to entice me back.”

“I am not from the area and tried to park in the pub carpark while dropping something off to my friend quickly and who I assume was the landlady threatened to pop my tires and shout abuse at me and my friend before we could even retaliate. After apologising and explaining how I didn’t realise it wasn’t public and wasn’t from the area I was shouted at even more and called a liar and told to move my car. I wouldn’t take my family here as she seems clearly a very aggressive person. If I could put no starts I would”

“Friendly community pub with a decent range of Arkells beers. Update. The Clifton is a welcoming, friendly pub full of charming regulars and not so regulars. It is a great place to watch sport and relax. Full of dogs and kids it has a great community atmosphere and should be celebrated for that fact.”

“Unfortunately not as great place as I hoped for. Together with my friends we were made feel really uncomfortable when we have decided not to take part in Wednesday quiz night. Landlords suggested that if we are not staying for quiz, they need our table ASAP. Very awkward!!! We were in the middle of having drinks and full on conversation and fun. It's a shame. Very rude, uncomfortable moment. Fair to say, we won't be back.”
