About The Runner
The Runner is a waterside pub on Wootton Bassett Rd in Swindon, under new management since February 2023. Himalayan curries cooked from scratch anchor the food menu, with butter chicken, bhuna and korma among the dishes, and kheema naan, naan bread and rice served alongside. Sunday roasts include pork belly and a 3-meat roast, and the roast beef carries the same influence as the curries. Food and drinks come to the table with full table service, and tables can be booked, including for Sunday lunch. The pub has a garden, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Himalayan curries draw the most praise, with diners naming the butter chicken, a bhuna paired with kheema naan, the korma, and fish, prawn and lamb curries described as delicious and cooked from scratch. Sunday roasts come close behind, with pork belly, a three meat roast and roast beef with Himalayan flavour singled out for large portions and excellent stuffing, though one reviewer missed cauliflower cheese. Staff are repeatedly called welcoming and friendly, with table service that anticipated when drinks were needed, and the pub garden gets a mention. The criticism is less frequent but specific. One diner found the fries overcooked, the chicken wrap short on sauce and chicken, and the tikka paneer flavourless, with a very long wait for food and a tired looking room. Another was told the bar could not make mocktails because it was too much work, and only got two after saying they would cancel the food order. One family birthday table left with three doggie bags.

“Been here in the week and weekend and tried both the 'sunday roast' and 'himilayan' menu. Both fabulous. Best roast we've ever had. Two huge potions of pork belly which is my fave and was insane. Hubby had the 3 meat roast and he was proper chuffed. Only constructive criticism we have is that there was no cauliflower cheese but honestly this meal made up for it in many other ways. The stuffing was excellent (and that's usually my least favourite thing). From previous visits I've had the Butter Chicken and it's one of the best Currys I've had, especially if you ask the chef to 'spice it up', just WOW, literally everything I want from a curry. Love this place, and it's local, so a massive bonus. We are lucky to have such great people managing the place xx”

“Visited this place last night and we were totally blown away! The staff were so welcoming and friendly Sam made us feel like we friends! So amazing. The food was excellent. I had the Bhuna that I ordered with Kheema naan and it was delicious! Such flavours and quality of products. I look forward to coming back soon. Thanks for making our evening perfect ❤️”

“Went here for a family birthday meal. Everyone enjoyed the food (3 doggie bags taken home). The waiting folk's had a mental ability to know when we needed something (drinks). We will be adding this place to our family meal routine!”

“Tremendouse in every way. Booked a table for Sunday lunch and was greater well by all staff. Full table service for food and drinks plus nonattrusive attention to make sure everything was perfect. The toast beef was excellent with extra flavour due to the Himalayan influence, a real treat. Large portions as well and it all came to the table piping hot. Exceptional treat.”
