About The Welcome Inn
The Welcome Inn is a pub in Swansea that has stood since 1582, which makes it the second oldest pub in the city. The building once worked as a coach house at the front and a blacksmith at the back, on the old road to Carmarthen. The kitchen serves Sunday lunch with Yorkshire puddings, and diners can add cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets or extra roast potatoes. Steak and ale pie and pork belly also appear on the menu. Afternoon tea comes with a savoury selection, cakes and scones with cream, and prosecco can be added to it. Dogs are welcome. Live music is played on some evenings.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints centre on service and temperature. One group of eight found their Sunday main course only lukewarm, with the veg and gravy cold by the time they arrived, and had to ask several times for the dessert menu. Another reviewer, on a second visit, waited nearly an hour and a half while staff stood talking at the bar. A few reviewers mention that the pub gets very busy, and one suggests booking first.

“This was the first time I'd been to to the Welcome Inn with 7 of my friends & we were really looking forward to a lovely Sunday lunch. Sadly, although the main course was beautifully cooked, it was only just luke-warm & by the time all the veg & gravy arrived, it was quite cold. We appreciate that some of the staff are quite young & new to the job but we had to ask several times for the dessert menu. The young staff seemed more interested on slowly clearing other tables, rather than serving us & it seemed that they weren't customer focused. Perhaps this was due to lack of proper training? I doubt, I'll go there again. Shame, as the food was very tasty with a good variety of veg.”

“This was the second time we visited The Welcome Inn within the last few days. The first time we ordered the steak and ale pie and it was delicious. The service from the staff was fantastic and they were very welcoming (no pun intended) and we're very chatty and gave great service. Unfortunately, this second time could not match the previous occasion as far as the service was concerned. There were a few afternoon tea groups in at the location, but from the ordering of our meal through to the end of the dessert, we were in the establishment for nearly an hour and a half. This wasn't anything to do with the staff being busy with the afternoon tea service as, during the long quiet periods, they spent most of the time stood behind the bar talking about their holidays, etc., rather than clearing tables and carrying out the same standard of service we had previously received just days before. This is a shame as it is a lovely venue and a great place to relax in the evening. Hopefully, this is just a one-off.”

“Me and the wife just had food there to celebrate our Anniversary ,the service was explanation they asked when I booked was it a special occasion. Said Anniversary they offered to arrange for bouquet of flowers and a card to be on the table for when we arrived which I thought was brilliant and nice surprise for her. Food was very tasty and plenty of it,staff were very friendly kept making sure everything was OK for us. Differently recommended for you to try out if not been, and best to book first as they get very busy. Again like to thank them for making it a special occasion. Butch”
