Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what most reviewers come for, with generous portions of meat and vegetables, two sittings, and a comparison to a carvery that leaves the pub ahead. Close behind are the wide menu and the special blackboards around the restaurant area, which reviewers say offer plenty of choice, including a long dessert list. One diner singles out the steak, and another says the manager found suitable food for a meat free diet with gluten, dairy and soya intolerances. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, and several call the prices reasonable or good value. The beer garden gets a mention as a lovely option. The main complaint comes from one lunch visit for a birthday, where drinks took a long time to be offered, nobody checked on the table, no finger bowl or wipes came with the ribs, and dirty plates sat in front of the family until they asked for them to be cleared. Another reviewer had a starter sent back, though the rest of that meal was delicious. One reviewer who dropped in without a booking was fitted in for a two-course Sunday lunch by the landlady.

“Just popped in without a booking on a Sunday afternoon. The charming landlady managed to accommodate us for a two-course Sunday lunch. The food was delightful, with ample portions of meat and vegetables, making it well worth the cost. The restaurant area was lovely and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend a visit and plan to return in the future.”

“Went for food lunch time for my mum's 77th birthday and as usual the food was absolutely delicious! Now I don't normally leave bad reviews and I always leave a tip but the service was really not good, it wasn't busy but we waited ages for someone to come and ask us if we wanted drinks, no-one came to ask us if things were OK, we didn't have a finger bowl or wipes even though we were eating ribs and after we finished our food we sat with dirty plates in front of us for a good 20 mins and I eventually had to ask someone to come and clear them, we weren't asked if we wanted any more drinks and we had to call the waitress again to order desserts. I have been here many times and never had such bad service, not sure if the waitresses were new but they definitely need to be trained.”
