Customer Review Summary

The Sunday roast draws the most enthusiasm, with roasted turkey and silverside beef alongside cauliflower cheese and a sticky toffee pudding several call among the best they've had. Close behind, loaded fries and burgers come up repeatedly, from the katsu curry loaded chips and chimichurri steak to the Mac and cheese burger and Lamb & Rosemary Burger with goat cheese and caramelised onion, plus praise for veggie tikka loaded fries and a caramel brownie. Fish and chips gets mixed notice, one diner found it generous with crispy batter while another found the batter soft and soggy on the cod. Diners also single out the function room for wakes and parties, with one describing a fully vegan and coeliac-friendly buffet that won over even skeptics, and accommodations like a wheelchair ramp brought promptly and a fussy child's meal remade without cheese. Dog owners note dogs are only permitted in the bar area despite a reservation, and the bar can get busy and loud by evening. Staff are consistently called friendly and attentive, with servers checking on drinks and swapping meals without complaint.

“First time in this pub and what a lovely place, went through the door by the car park and first thing a lovely smile from the staff. The food was excellent and a different level. It is the best meal we have ever had in this area. My wife had serloin steak and that was beautiful cooked, I had baked cod and that was beautiful as well and the accomaments on the plates were excellent. The staff were friendly and very caring from the boss to the waitress/bar lady. Ten out of ten.”

“Best food I’ve had in a long time presentation, taste and the value for money is incredible. The staff are so lovely. Not just one or two, all of them.”

“Party of 17 for my mothers 60th. Everything was brilliant, food orders were taken as a pre-order and services went without a hitch. My nephew was being a little fussy as kids can be around the cheese grated over his pasta, was offered another to be made without the cheese (we didn't take it but the offer was appreciated). Food was lovely and overall everyone had a good night. One of the party uses a wheelchair and the ramp for access in was brought promptly and made sure that the night went ahead with no fuss and everyone just got to enjoy.”

“We held my mum’s wake in the function room of The Halfway. The room is beautiful! It was also a big bonus having access to a projector, tablet for music, fairy lights, own toilets and bar. We also asked for a fully vegan buffet and to provide for 2 coeliacs. Having experienced plenty of vegan food in other pubs, my expectations were low but the food was exceptional! The none vegans couldn’t believe it was vegan and the fussiest vegan friend I have even loved it! Everything got eaten and was loved. The staff were lovely and very accommodating allowing us to come and decorate the room with flowers and photos. The pub as whole is popular and well loved, lovely to look at from the outside and inside. I’d definitely use the function room again for parties and gatherings.”
