Customer Review Summary
Steak dishes draw the most attention, with the Steak Sizzler singled out repeatedly, though experiences split sharply: some praise how good it looks on arrival, while others describe gristly, chewy meat or steak served rare after being ordered well done. Close behind, family-friendly staples stand out, including children's meals, the Tikka Tower, Mac & Cheese, and a burger so large one reviewer said it "needed its own postcode," alongside crispy chicken strips and a milkshake made personally for a child by a staff member. Several reviewers name and credit individual servers for going out of their way, from offering a free soft drink after a failed driving test to remembering allergy and comfort needs for a child with additional needs. Complaints recur around inconsistent service, with reports of long waits before anyone took an order, being told food wasn't available while other tables were served, and one detailed account describing a urine smell, flies, a sticky table, and a rude staff interaction. One reviewer also describes a heated exchange with a staff member over reopened blinds. Regulars return for the value, good wine, and being looked after across breakfast, lunch, and evening drinks alike.

“Lovely pub, lady who served was lovely unfortunately my friend had to send food back as was not hot. The server did deal very quickly with complaint.”

“We went with the children to have lunch at this restaurant. It was 6 p.m., from the entrance a lady greeted us and said that I don't serve food just drinks. We decided to stay for a drink if we went in. The disappointment was to see that food was served at other tables, we said that the order was probably made earlier. But still orders were taken from people who came after us. Total disappointment”

“Went to watch 'Le mis' in the furnace and went for food at the Stepney afterwards. Lovely staff there, especially Marcus who was an excellent bar tender. Had the nicest lasagne.”
