About The Bake House Stockport
The Bake House is a cafe in Stockport at 287 Buxton Rd, opened in 2014 in a building that used to be a DIY store. The cakes are homemade, and the food comes from local suppliers. Customer Review Summary
Afternoon tea is what reviewers return to most, and they describe it as generous, with plenty of choice. Diners single out the freshly made sandwiches, the scones and the light cakes, and several mention separate children's and vegan versions. Several say they could not finish it all, and staff boxed up the leftovers to take home. Close behind are the hot drinks, with reviewers naming coffee, teas, hot chocolate and milkshakes for the kids. One reviewer praises a breakfast with quality ingredients right down to the toast. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and accommodating. One party was fitted in at the last minute after their planned venue turned out to be closed, and was given a sandwich platter and a cake stand in place of a full afternoon tea. Another reviewer had a takeaway afternoon tea made up for a baby shower, and a parent says the owner helped rescue a child's birthday party more than once. One reviewer calls it very good value. No complaints appear in the reviews.

“Arrived for food whilst my partner tried on dresses a couple of doors down. Pleasantly surprised, really wonderful little cafe and would absolutely visit again. Service was impeccable. Breakfast was great, really quality ingredients right down to the toast. Might have eaten it a bit quick to get a pic, so you'll have to make do with this picture of my coffee.”

“Had afternoon tea yesterday with my daughters. I can’t believe the amount of cakes we had. Everything was so fresh and delicious. We had to take some of our cakes home to enjoy later we were so full 😂 The owner was absolutely lovely. Full marks to you xxx”

“3 of us met at The Bakehouse for brews, cakes and a natter today. Venue chosen as Stockport sort of central for us all and few places open on a Monday. Clearly popular as was busy. Spent a lovely morning; lovely hot brews; hot chocolate, teas and coffee. Worked our way through a selection of fabulous cakes. Nice atmosphere, staff very attentive. Happy to recommend if you want a clean, cosy place for a catch up with friends.”

Highlights
“I opened the The Bake House in 2014 following years of working in boutique hotels. Stockport is my hometown, I left to go to university and then for the hotel experience, but I always wanted to come home. I found this location by chance and I knew it was perfect! I could see past the old decor (it used to be a DIY store) straight away and knew it was right for my idea of a coffee shop which would feel like an extension of your own home. The Bake House is where you come to when you want to have quality time, quality coffee and quality food. All our cakes are homemade with love and care and we use local suppliers for our food - see our website for details. See you for a coffee and a cake soon! Laura and the team xx P. S we're dog friendly 🐾”
