About George & Dragon
George & Dragon is a Greene King pub in Heaton Chapel, Stockport, standing on a crossroads at 422 Manchester Rd. A host runs the quiz night in the style of a game show, and the programme also includes karaoke and disco nights. The TV bar shows Sky Sports and TNT Sports, and a pool table and a dart board sit alongside it. Cask beer comes from several handpumps, with a selection of other beers on offer. The food menu pairs hunters chicken and steak with peppercorn sauce with chicken wings, strips, chips and onion rings. A Christmas turkey meal is also on the menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food, with a sirloin steak described as cooked to perfection and well seasoned, and one diner praising the chef for it. Close behind are the hunters chicken, a steak with peppercorn sauce, and a Christmas turkey dinner whose turkey and vegetables were called spot on. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and one server is credited with going above and beyond after an order mix-up. Others mention a good atmosphere, a quiz night with a host who runs it like a game show, and karaoke and disco nights. The caveats are specific. One reviewer waited a long time for food on three visits and found it poor, another found the roast potatoes underdone, the Yorkshire pudding stodgy and the meal not warm enough, and a third found only one of five handpumps available. One neighbour objected to football celebrations spilling outside the pub. A diner who came for a family meal described all the food as lovely.

“Im all for celebrating Englands win in the football however, do it inside the pub. Have some respect for neighbouring residential properties.”

“Been here three times for food and every time it has been the worst food I have ever ate. Plus has taken 60-90 minutes to arrive as well. Absolutely woeful. Since the pandemic I truly believe everywhere has gone such down hill. This is the reason I rarely buy takeaways anymore. And rarely drink.”
