Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers single out the food, with dishes such as the hunters chicken and the gammon steak repeatedly praised for flavor, and the steak, curry, fish and chips, and pizza also receiving positive remarks. A recurring complaint concerns extremely long wait times, several diners report waiting up to an hour for their meals, and uneven service, with one patron describing irritated staff and a manager who appeared uninterested. A separate reviewer found a dead fly on a fish-and-chips portion, and another noted that a Marstons pedigree beer was cloudy and tasted off. Positive experiences note that, despite being understaffed, the bar and floor staff work hard to deliver orders, and many guests appreciate the friendly, attentive approach of the servers. One reviewer specifically mentions the kids’ play area as a helpful feature for families.

If I could give it 0 stars I would!! Absolutely awful do not come here. Service and food! I came here 6 months ago and it’s definitely gone down hill since. I visited today for a Father’s Day meal for my dad and my grandad and i am absolutely shocked with everything . Food was awful cold and nothing like what it’s suppose to be like.the pie that was ordered the gravey was like water, the hunters chicken had hardly any sauce on and was cold, burger looked like a flat burger and was awful. Yes I did complain when I was there but didn’t seem bothered at all. Wasn’t busy at all and not surprised . The manager was rude and didn’t even look like he wanted to be there at all. No managers at all. Dirty place. Definitely are not coming back.

Absolutely appalling service from start to finish. We placed our order at 13:49 and were told the food would be ready in 30 minutes. By 14:30 there was still no sign of it, and by 14:45 we had been waiting almost an hour. I was there with two children (aged 10 and 8), both of whom were extremely hungry and becoming increasingly frustrated. When I finally went to the counter to ask about the delay, instead of receiving an apology, the staff seemed irritated and served our table with a grumpy attitude, as though we had done something wrong by asking where our food was after such a long wait. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the service. We ordered the mixed grill (well done) and the beef chilli, and neither dish was anywhere near the standard you would expect. The only positive was that the kids enjoyed their pizzas. To make matters worse, the desserts were overpriced and completely underwhelming. They were certainly not worth the money. After such poor service, excessive waiting times, mediocre food, and a lack of basic customer care, this was a thoroughly disappointing experience. We will not be returning, and I would struggle to recommend this place to anyone.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was nice and it was quiet around the time we went on sunday evening. Food was good. Had chicken popcorn for starter. Fish for main and sundae. …

We visited on a Friday evening. It was relatively busy but there was only one person on the bar taking food orders as well as serving drinks. There appeared to be one waiter and presumably one in the kitchen. It took roughly an hour to receive our food. When it arrived it was good. Surprisingly so. Steak cooked well, tasty curry all good for 5 people. I couldn’t fault the staff, they worked their socks off but what a shame they are so poorly supported by management.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
