  “After being in the doldrums, the Marsh Harrier is back. Under new management, Kate has breathed new life into the place. Supported by what are now clearly motivated staff, she has elevated the pub into a pleasant place to dine. Beer tastes good again and the food arrived well presented and piping hot. It might not be classed as Fine Dining, but it's good honest pub grub served with a smile in what is now a pleasant atmosphere. However, in these hard times for the hospitality industry, Kate will need diners to keep it going. I Fully recommend a visit and I for one will be back.”

  “We had a lovely evening at The Marsh Harrier! From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and friendly, making us feel very welcome. They greeted us with a smile, took our orders promptly, and the food arrived quickly. We stopped here in our motorhome, and it's a fantastic stop for fellow motorhomers. I was honestly surprised by the size of my Chicken & Bacon House Salad- it was fresh, full of flavour, huge and absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend it! A special mention to Kate, who was so friendly and took the time to chat with our family, making our visit even more enjoyable. Great food, great service, and a great place to stop.”

  “Came for a Sunday roast this afternoon and was greeted by kate (apologies if the name is incorrect!) and brad! Food was absolutely delicious- and the staff were lovely and very welcoming!!”

  “4 star review mainly because of server Kaitlyn who, from start to finish, was cheerful and helpful. She seemed to be running solo doing nearly all the bar work and serving meals, all with a smile and happy manner. We were a family party of 10, including 5 children. The children got fairly restless as the wait for food was quite long but small outdoor and indoor play areas were helpful with that. On the whole, the food was all okay though nothing special, however the one sirloin steak that was ordered was awful- dry, overcooked and so tough! Dogs got a treat that day when I took it home for them!”

  “If I could give it 0 stars I would!! Absolutely awful do not come here. Service and food! I came here 6 months ago and it’s definitely gone down hill since. I visited today for a Father’s Day meal for my dad and my grandad and i am absolutely shocked with everything . Food was awful cold and nothing like what it’s suppose to be like.the pie that was ordered the gravey was like water, the hunters chicken had hardly any sauce on and was cold, burger looked like a flat burger and was awful. Yes I did complain when I was there but didn’t seem bothered at all. Wasn’t busy at all and not surprised . The manager was rude and didn’t even look like he wanted to be there at all. No managers at all. Dirty place. Definitely are not coming back.”

  “Absolutely appalling service from start to finish. We placed our order at 13:49 and were told the food would be ready in 30 minutes. By 14:30 there was still no sign of it, and by 14:45 we had been waiting almost an hour. I was there with two children (aged 10 and 8), both of whom were extremely hungry and becoming increasingly frustrated. When I finally went to the counter to ask about the delay, instead of receiving an apology, the staff seemed irritated and served our table with a grumpy attitude, as though we had done something wrong by asking where our food was after such a long wait. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the service. We ordered the mixed grill (well done) and the beef chilli, and neither dish was anywhere near the standard you would expect. The only positive was that the kids enjoyed their pizzas. To make matters worse, the desserts were overpriced and completely underwhelming. They were certainly not worth the money. After such poor service, excessive waiting times, mediocre food, and a lack of basic customer care, this was a thoroughly disappointing experience. We will not be returning, and I would struggle to recommend this place to anyone.”

  “I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other customers should be aware of how this situation has been handled. If i could rate lower than 1 star, I would. After visiting the pub with my family back in April this year, an incorrect charge of £82.24 was taken from my account. When I first contacted the pub regarding this, staff were already aware that I had been incorrectly charged for another customer's meal and advised me that I needed to speak to the manager, Scott, to arrange a refund. What followed has been a constant battle of repeatedly chasing an issue that was not my fault. I was continually told to telephone Scott at specific times and left my contact details on numerous occasions, yet I never received a call back. At no point was I advised to contact the pub by email. I eventually had to find an email address myself, only to then be criticised by Scott for not emailing sooner. Throughout the process, I found Scott's communication and handling of the situation to be extremely unprofessional. There was little acknowledgement of the inconvenience caused, no genuine apology for the pub's mistake, and when I requested the formal complaints procedure, that request was simply ignored. I have also learnt since, that I was not the only one to be incorrectly charged that day. Despite the pub acknowledging from the outset that I had been charged for another customer's bill, I have ultimately been told they cannot refund me because the card details they hold do not match the details I originally provided. Rather than looking for an alternative solution to correct their own error, I have now been left to pursue the matter through my bank. To make matters worse, I have been dealing with all of this whilst heavily pregnant and living several hours away in Cumbria, meaning repeatedly returning to the pub was never an option. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What I cannot accept is the complete lack of ownership, poor communication, and the fact that I am still left out of pocket for another customer's bill because of an error that the pub acknowledged from the outset. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this pub.”

  “Stopped in for a meal before going to a show. Welcomed as soon as we walked in. Caitlin was really friendly and helpful throughout our visit, service with a smile. The food was very tasty too.”
