About The Eltisley
The Eltisley is a pub with guest rooms at 2 The Green in St Neots, so visitors can stay overnight as well as eat and drink. The kitchen serves locally sourced British cuisine, including a roast dinner of beef with cauliflower cheese and a big Yorkshire pudding, and lamb dishes such as rack of lamb and lamb shank. A pudding menu is available for the end of the meal. The bar pours cask ales alongside guest beers. Several dining rooms suit groups of different sizes, and one of them is a private dining area. A huge log burner sits in the pub.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the draw reviewers raise most, with one describing tender beef, cauliflower cheese and a big fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and another calling it a fantastic lunch that lived up to its recommendation. Close behind are racks of lamb described as tasty and perfectly cooked, plus lamb shank, scampi and sea bass praised as authentic British dishes. Reviewers also mention good guest beers, a relaxing atmosphere with a huge log burner, and friendly staff. The complaints centre on food quality against cost. One diner found a chicken Caesar salad average, with stale, chewy croutons. Another called the burger dry and described a smoked salmon starter with a tiny, tasteless piece and bread served with margarine instead of butter. A gluten free diner ordering the roast chicken was offered no substitute for the stuffing or Yorkshire pudding at the same price. One reviewer recalls a member of the bar staff writing out directions around the closed A428.

“Very disappointing gluten free meal. Ordered a roast chicken dinner but couldn't have the stuffing or Yorkshire pudding. No 'option' or substitute, but paid the same price. I can do better at home.”

“Fantastic pub diner. We went in to have a drink and ask directions as the A428 was closed. The service was impeccable. The pub is light, clean and attractive. Sammy behind the bar was incredible helpful and friendly. She took the trouble to write down directions to drive through a number of villages and then rejoin the A428. It was perfect. Thank you very much Sammy. We will visit again.”

“The Eltisley is a lovely dining pub, with good guest beers and relaxing ambience with a huge log burner. The food is always excellent, and the staff are always friendly and professional. The dining rooms are suitable for various sized groups, including an intimate private dining area We’ve never had a duff meal here and return often.”

“The pub itself is lovely and staff are lush! However the food is just not great ordered a salmon starter with the smallest piece of smoked salmon that had literally no taste along with the bread and butter starter served with margarine not butter. The burger was as dry as the Sahara it’s a shame because it’s such a nice pub!”
