Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back to the Nepalese curries, with the goat curry and fish curry singled out as full of flavour, and the keema naan, stuffed with real meat and fresh herbs, getting a specific call-out. Close behind are the chicken rum rum, the sizzling platter, the mixed platter starter, the onion bhajis and the chilli honey chicken. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and several describe the lunchtime menu and the value as good. The pub side draws mentions of great beer, loaded chips over a Saturday afternoon drink, and a Thursday quiz night one group plans to join after a wake held in the restaurant area. The main complaints are about pace and consistency. One reviewer waited a long time between getting a table, drinks and food with only two tables occupied, while another found the food a letdown against their experience of Nepalese cooking elsewhere. One diner on a quiet mid-July evening noted the garden area and open windows in place of air conditioning, and left having enjoyed a shared meal of two curries, egg fried rice and nan.

“We went on a friday, mid July, about 6.30pm for a meal. There were a few other people at tables in the restaurent area but still early, as by the time we left it had got busier, although still lots of space. I thought it may be too hot as they have no air con but all the windows and doors were open and a gentle breeze blew through. The meal tasted fresh and just cooked, we had a starter, 2 curries, 2 egg fried rice and nan bread to share between the two of us. Good sized servings. Staff friendly and helpful. The price I think was about average for that kind of meal. Surroundings were ok but little touches here and there could make an improvement. Nice sized garden area as well if you want to sit outside. Would use again as local and can just go for a drink or a meal.”

“Relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and amazing food! These curries are on a different level and so fresh and full of flavour. I would recommend the goat curry and the fish curry and you MUST try the keema naan - stuffed with real meat and fresh herbs!”

“One of the greatest meals I’ve had, mixed platter starter, I went for an authentic Nepalese main which was bursting with flavours, just the right amount of heat, a great experience, staff were very friendly, the restaurant was very busy but the service was spot on, would definitely recommend trying this place out. Reasonably priced and worthy of the tip I left.”

“The Barley Mow hosted a wake for us in their restaurant area. They did a fantastic job and were very accommodating. We'd asked for a selection of food, which went down very well. I'd particularly call out the onion bhajis and the chilli honey chicken. I made arrangements via Sandy who was very professional and flexible, especially on making sure the food options fell into our budget. We liked the pub so much that a small group of us that are local intend to start going to the Thursday quiz nights.”

“The Nepalese dishes here are amazing! We’re slowly working our way through the menu, and so far none have disappointed us. Great value for money, and the staff are fantastic! This has become our go-to place for food these days. 5 stars all the way :-)”
