Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers single out the hot honey halloumi on sourdough, a crispy chilli honey halloumi with smashed avo, green harissa and a poached egg, which one calls a good pick for anyone who likes sweet and spicy. Close behind are the Bubble and Squeak toast, the veggie breakfast and the mushrooms toast, with diners praising the thick, quality bread, perfectly poached eggs and plates that arrive beautifully presented. The coffee earns its own praise, and staff are repeatedly called friendly and quick to seat people. The main criticism comes from one lower review that found the food average with small portions, a side of bread that was hard to cut, a hot chocolate that was not very hot, and shared tables that made private conversation difficult. Another reviewer finds the small room a bit loud, and one warns that big groups may have to wait. Even so, one pair noted staff refilled their tap water bottle without being asked, and both plates were cleared in short order.

“We had such a lovely brunch here recently. The food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully on the plates. I especially enjoyed the vibrant green herb drizzle that accompanied the dishes, which added such a fresh flavour to the meal. Everything felt really high quality, from the perfectly poached eggs to the warm, rustic wooden tables. It is a fantastic spot for a relaxed bite to eat in St Albans.”

“Nestled on a side road between Boots and M&S is this lovely brunch place with sun facing windows in a light inviting area. Paid parking is nearby and easy access on foot from the main High Street. Menu has lots of choices from meat eaters to vegan options. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew I had to choose the Hot Honey Halloumi. Delicious crispy chilli honey halloumi, smashed avo, green harissa, poached egg, red chili served on sourdough toast. I chose Orange juice as my drink choice. Another great find, as I wondered through the streets of St. Albans.”

“Perfect little cafe in St.Albans with a distinct and delicious menu, great service and good prices.”

“Customer service was 10/10. Interacted with a couple of staff members and service was fault less. Was seated next to another group (sharing table) I suppose for a small restaurant it might be required. Alternative could be have smaller tables and link / detach as required. Private conversations, difficult. Eavesdropping very easy! Side of bread was hard to cut, sharper knives required or softer breads. Our drinks (esp. hot chocolate) was not very hot. Food tasted average and portions were small (plates look half empty) Dog friendly, kindly be considered of others. There was one dog jumping near a lady at a nearby table who was polite and trying to keep space/calm.”
