Customer Review Summary
Food and drink draw praise from most reviewers, led by the fresh, tasty crab, lobster risotto, sirloin and fillet, with massive, yummy profiteroles and an apple pie one regular orders every visit close behind. One reviewer urges trying the Ivy Royale cocktail. Several call the room relaxed and welcoming, and one finds it more intimate than the London branches. The complaints are specific. One diner called the fish and chips incredibly oily with soft batter, and the chicken schnitzel at the same table was also too oily, so mains went unfinished. Another said the greeter never smiled and offered neither a welcome nor a goodbye, and thought the cheese board needed a better cheddar. The same reviewer still called the lunch expensive but good. Service is the other recurring theme, with waiting staff described as friendly, efficient and attentive, and kind to elderly relatives at birthday and anniversary meals. One birthday table was surprised with a celebratory dessert.

“Genuine culinary excellence on display. Delightful delicious dishes from the Edition Menu 4. Very good service from the whole front of house team particularly Brihanna who has a cheerful attitude. Thank you one and all”

“A bit of a hit and miss - service was pretty good and as expected for this chain of restaurants. Unfortunately that’s where the good ends - the floor at the table which we were squashed into was dirty (4 of us went for my birthday) My wife didn’t want to cause a commotion as for them to clean it would’ve involved us all getting up… The food was ok…the nibbles were quite tasty but me and my wife made the mistake of ordering the fish and chips for main. The fish was incredibly oily and the batter was soft and not very nice in general. It just felt like the fish was not allowed to rest before being served to us. My son said he enjoyed his shepherds pie and my other son did not enjoy his chicken schnitzel for the same reason of being too oily. We were unable to finish our mains. The atmosphere in general is pretty nice, welcoming but for the price you pay you expect at minimum good food. This was not it. Probably wouldn’t go back.”

“Celebrated a birthday dinner here and it was seamless from the booking to when we arrived. The staff were really attentive, particularly Callum who was our waiter. A really polite young man who paid attention to the details-we were given a celebratory dessert which was a lovely surprise and then all the recommendations he made from the food to drinks were spot on! Definitely try the Ivy Royale cocktail! wouldn't change a thing about the night-a lovely night celebrating someone who doesn't like a fuss but staff still made it feel special. Will be returning and recommending this branch x”

“Ivy St Albans has to be my favourite restaurant in the world so far. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted by a beautiful ambience, attentive and genuinely wonderful staff, and a menu that is nothing short of fantastic. Every detail feels carefully considered, creating an experience that is both elegant and welcoming. The food was outstanding, from the delicious starters through to the incredible desserts. The atmosphere is warm, sophisticated, and effortlessly stylish – the kind of place where you immediately feel relaxed and want to stay all evening. One thing that truly sets Ivy apart is the fragrance throughout the restaurant. It smells like a luxury five-star hotel. Whatever scent they use, it deserves its own perfume label because it is absolutely divine and instantly memorable. A flawless dining experience from start to finish. We will definitely be back and can’t wait for our next visit. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The food, the service, the ambience, and even the scent of the restaurant make Ivy St Albans a truly special place.”

“Outstanding service by Edward, again, who helped make our dining an event worth travelling for from Woburn as you get the London restaurant vibes without the ‘issues’ London offers now. Food is consistently excellent and comfortable seating. Tables are laid properly and staff are all together an excellent team that are seamless. Choice of menus. Great bar. Highly recommend.”
