Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the brunch plates, with the eggs benedict, the salmon schmear and the berry waffles singled out by name, and one calls the waffles next level. The coffee comes up close behind, including an iced caramel latte described as full of flavour, along with a pastry and banana bread that one reviewer rates fantastic. Friendly, attentive staff appear in many reviews, and families mention being well looked after. Some visitors say they were passing through St Albans and chose it on the strength of other reviews. The caveats are modest. One reviewer found the vegan BLT disappointing, with a small portion and about half of it mayonnaise, so they left everything but the bacon. Another notes the fried chicken took longer than a neighbouring table's scrambled eggs, though the waiting staff checked in and the dish was judged worth the hype. One says the acoustics make the room a bit noisy, though conversation stayed easy.

“I came into hatch for the salmon schmear and had a coffee and pastry right after. Honestly the best food and drink for brunch in St Albans. I had two servers who were excellent aswell. Really sorry I cannot remember their names. One was a small Italian lady, and the other was either Rose,Lilly,Daisy or Poppy. I can’t quite remember but their service was brilliant! Highly recommend.”

“Without a doubt, the best brunch in Hertfordshire! The food is always delicious, the coffee is amazing and the service is consistently fantastic. A special mention to Jasmine and Josh, who always make us feel so welcome and go above and beyond to look after us. They're both incredibly friendly, attentive and genuinely make every visit a pleasure. Such a lovely place with a great atmosphere. We always look forward to coming back. Highly recommend!”

“This restaurant is the perfect place to celebrate with a quality breakfast or brunch. Their menu is full of lovely dishes and there was nothing on the menu not to like. We were here with family, including children, and were well looked after. Service friendly and neither rushed nor late. The acoustics made it a bit noisy but not enough to stop us having normal conversation. I hope to come back if we are able to visit St Albans in the future.”

“First time coming here and we were really impressed! The staff were really friendly and the food was fantastic. I went for something a little different with the berry waffles and an iced caramel latte. The waffles were next level. The latte was absolutely quality — loads of flavour compared to other coffee shops we’ve tried. We’ll definitely be coming back! 😊”
