Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly, welcoming staff, who seated walk-ins without a booking and handed a solo diner a warm wet towel. Food draws close praise, with the onion bhaji, chicken tikka, Jhinga Ajwaini and Lamb Bhoona named as stand outs, plus soft, flavorful garlic naan and a curry with plenty of tender lamb. Several dine before a cruise, including a table of 8 covering vegetarian and gluten free diets and a family party of 20 served all at once, and one suggests booking in advance. A full room can be a bit noisy. One reviewer found the food okayish and not memorable, the service inattentive and the prices high for what was offered, and another was never offered dessert, though the Peshwari naan filled that gap. Two diners celebrating a mother's birthday, once at lunch and once for her 80th, had a cake brought out by the staff.

“We stayed overnight in Southampton before our cruise in June and really wanted a curry to start our holiday off. After a long, hot car journey we ventured out and asked Google for a nearby curry restaurant. As we had no idea what time we would arrive we couldn’t book a table but even though the Coriander Lounge were busy they were so welcoming, friendly and sat us at a lovely table. The food was delicious with superb friendly service and we are now looking forward to our next visit in August. We will always use Coriander Lounge now on our visits to Southampton (just wish we were closer and then we’d be there every week) and can highly recommend.”

“Hosted a dinner for 8 before cruise departure and has to cover food for vegetarians and GF diets. So we can here and it was a very good meal. Very good service and very helpful during ordering to get the quantity and flavours balanced for the table. Stand outs; onion bhaji, chicken tikka, Jhinga Ajwaini, Lamb Bhoona. We were never offered a desert which seemed a little odd but it's highly unlikely we could have managed it. The Peshwari Naan, kind of filled the sweetness space.”

“I have a chronic illness and have been so unwell for 6 days. I have driven from TW, Kent to Southampton for a 2 day course. I checked into my hotel and had a mooch on the Quay. I needed somewhere friendly and comfortable to eat and voila! I saw this restaurant. I hadn’t booked yet they welcomed me and put me by the window and I was so comfortable. The food, service and environment is 12/10. Even being handed my warm wet towel. Everyone made me feel very welcome. #solo”

“The food here is okayish and nothing really stood out in terms of taste. It was edible but didn’t feel memorable or worth going back for just the food. The service, however, was not pleasant and felt inattentive, which affected the overall experience. On top of that, the prices are a bit high for what is offered. Considering the food quality and service, it didn’t feel like good value for money.”
