Quick info
About Curry Lounge
Curry Lounge is an Indian restaurant at 9 Manor Farm Rd in Southampton, in the Bitterne Triangle area, with a menu that draws on both Bangladeshi and Indian cooking. A mixed platter works as a starter to share, and the mains include lamb dupiaza and the Curry Lounge special, which combines lamb, chicken and prawns. The restaurant has no alcohol licence, so guests bring their own bottle and pay a corkage fee. A Spar next door sells beer and other drinks for that purpose. Soft drinks and non-alcoholic alternatives are sold on site for anyone who prefers them.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the curries themselves, with the madras named repeatedly alongside the lamb dupiaza, chicken tikka, a vindaloo and a house special of lamb, chicken and prawns. Close behind is the owner and his team, described as friendly and chatty, with one diner noting a coriander aversion was taken seriously and every dish arrived without it. Portions are called generous and the prices reasonable, and a mixed starter platter and peshwari naan also get a mention. Several note the restaurant has no alcohol licence, so diners bring their own bottle for a corkage charge per person, and soft drinks are sold. One reviewer found service a little slow because takeaway orders were being filled first, and another noted the cutlery looked well used. The one sharply negative visit was a takeout where the chicken was hard and dry, the naan burnt, and the sheek kebab black and not cooked through. Several others describe ordering extra food to take home after a dine-in meal.

“Our first time here last night which we can’t believe as so local ! It was very busy so we knew wouldn’t be quick but that didn’t matter . Poppadums brought out straight away and ready for the curry when it came out , was absolutely delicious ! My husband had their curry lounge special with lamb, chicken and prawns and was very good ! Lovely service and the brothers both took time to talk to us even though it was busy . Just wish I’d taken photos so I could share with everyone .”

“Our server was incredibly attentive yet wonderfully unobtrusive and We felt pampered by the staff’s warm professionalism. And about the food The flavors were perfectly balanced and utterly sublime and overall The meal was truly exquisite. It is worth for the money and deserves another visit.”

“Been using Curry Lounge for some time now. Eat in and takeout. Tonight was rubbish I wonder if this takeout even came from Curry Lounge. Chicken was hard and dry with an odd taste. Nann was wholemeal. and burnt? Sheek kebab was black in colour and not cooked through. The veg curry had a very strange taste. What happened?”

“What a hidden gem! Tucked away in Bitterne triangle luckily a short walk from where we live! The food looked so appetising and was genuinely delicious- we didn’t even take any photos as we couldn’t wait to get stuck in!! My aversion to coriander was taken seriously and thankfully everything arrived coriander free and tasting wonderful! We had a mixed starter .. Lamb Dupiaza , chicken madras , chilli and garlic rice and peshwari nan - we were stuffed but happy! The prices are very reasonable and portions sizes are very generous- staff were really friendly and chatty making customers feel really welcome! With the quality. price and location there is no reason to ever use any other curry restaurant! We will definitely be back and will also order our takeaways from here ; free delivery with 3 miles ) give them a go - you won’t regret it !! Delicious!”

“Me and my partner went into the curry lounge on Saturday evening. All our food was delicious. To start with we had a mixed platter to share and that really set it off well. For our mains we both got a chicken tikka each with egg fried rice and naan bread to share and that was so good I barely took a breathe for air. We thought the food was so good we ordered more to takeaway for our dinner on Sunday. The owner/ manager was so lovely, chatty and extremely helpful when we ordered. The restaurant itself was really well presented and I also made a comment about the flowers. For how nice it was the food was also really well priced. I’d 100% recommend to anyone who may be interested. And definitely want to return very soon.”
