Customer Review Summary

Sunday lunch is what reviewers mention most, with roast lamb, pork, beef or chicken served alongside large Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese, parsnips, stuffing and a bowl of gravy. Portions are big enough that one table left half of it, and one reviewer notes the meat is chosen when booking. Close behind are the meat and potato pie with meat gravy, mushy peas and chips, called the crown jewel by one diner, and a lasagne with lots of meat and stringy cheese. The specials board also draws praise, including a tender lamb rump, a medium spicy chilli beef, slow roasted beef and an ox tail with mash. Reviewers repeatedly describe the food as home cooked, generous and good value, and many call the staff friendly. The beer garden is liked on sunny days. The main caveats are small: one reviewer found the Sunday veg a bit mushy and overcooked, and another felt packed in with little space, though a different reviewer found the tables nicely spaced. One reviewer adds that no puddings are served on Sundays.

“Went for Sunday lunch. It really is a traditional Sunday lunch. Pork, Beef pork and beef or Chicken and you order the meat when you book which is essential as they are very popular. The meat was all spot on and you get a lot. Boiled roast potatoes, large Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips, careots, green beans brought separately in a server and you get a lot in fact we left at least half as we couldn't eat it. Oh and a stuffing ball and enough gravy (in a gravy bowl) to have a swim in. Veg is firm but cooked bit mushy and over cooked All portions are big and they don't serve sweats / puddings on a Sunday probably as not many people can manage one. If you like a proper no fuss Sunday dinner you won't go far wrong. Should mention staff are all lovely and friendly despite being busy”
