About Matchstick Man
Matchstick Man is a Hungry Horse pub in Salford, on Capital Quay overlooking the River Irwell near Media City. Its beer garden faces the water, which gives groups of friends an outdoor place to meet beside the river. The menu is built around pub classics, with pies and burgers alongside steak, including a steak sizzler. Football and F1 are shown on Sky Sports and TNT Sports, so the pub also works as a place to watch a match together.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming service is what reviewers raise most, with several describing staff who checked on tables, remembered a regular's order, or brought over a glass of water unasked. Food comes second, and diners name the steak sizzler, the lamb kofta flatbread, fish and chips, burgers and the desserts, with one reviewer calling the steak fresh and juicy and another noting the food arrived piping hot and quickly. A gluten free menu was a help to one diner. Prices are described as good, with reviewers pointing to an offer on lager and five drinks costing little. Atmosphere is called great and homely, a real Salford pub, with a booth found for one family and quiet seating away from the crowd where conversation was easy. The one food complaint is a burger that came well overcooked, which that reviewer put down to the chain's style, while the dessert was better. One reviewer adds that match days get heaving, and the tram stop sits right outside.

“Really nice chain pub. I had a burger that was well over cooked for but it maybe the chain's way of cooking them. The dessert was better. We sat away from the crowd so didn't want the atmosphere. We were able to chat and hear each other. It was easy to get to, easy to park, staff were lovely and with the offer, prices were great. I had a lovely time.”

“My regular for a long time. Chloe always looks after me, I don’t even have to ask for what I want! Des also is the business…ask him about gladiators - AFTER you’ve got your drink! All round 10/10 place!!!”

“We had an amazing visit to the Matchstick Man Pub and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, the food and drinks were excellent, and the whole visit was made even more enjoyable by the brilliant service from Chloe and Deryn. They were both friendly, attentive and welcoming, going above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Nothing was too much trouble, and their warm, professional approach really stood out. They are a real credit to the pub! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great pub experience!”
