About The New Oxford
The New Oxford is a pub in Salford at 11 Bexley Square, with a Belgian beer list of 40 to 50 bottles and beers. Around half a dozen cask ales sit alongside it, ranging from pale through bitter to stout, and keg and bottle beers fill out the range. All three Irish stouts are poured, so the taps cover more than one style of dark beer. The extensive back bar holds a large whisky selection. A non-alcoholic selection and craft ales are also on offer. Sport plays on the TV, and the pub puts on live music.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to The New Oxford above all for the beer range, especially the Belgian bottles and taps, with one mentioning a list of dozens, and Früli on tap. Close behind is the stout lineup: several single out all three Irish stouts poured with proper equipment, and one calls the Guinness among the best outside Ireland, though the head in one photo ran slightly large. Cask ales come next, around half a dozen on at once, from pale through bitter and stout, along with a bass pint described as well served. A back bar of whisky and a non alcoholic selection also get mentions. Reviewers describe the service as friendly and quick, and one family praises two servers in the beer garden who kept drinks coming all evening. The outdoor seating in the square, with its bronze horse statue, draws comment, and one reviewer notes sport on the television that doesn't distract from the craic. Several mention live music, and one calls the restored interior smart, closing on the beer garden evening a Swedish family called their memorable last night together.

“Went in the other day during daytime, I stepped in I was welcomed by a fellow ginger lad with long hair who greeted me and was down to earth friendly and served me. The people who come in here are lovely and the fella behind the bar is cool too! Would recommend 100%”

“Nice pub with an expansive outdoor seating space and fantastic selection (all 3 Irish stouts with the proper pouring equipment - v rare in England; lots of other interesting beers on tap including Früli; and an extensive list of 40-50 Belgian beers)”

“Great pub in Salford. In current Good Beer Guide (2026). Fantastic selection of cask and keg beers. Also a great selection of Whisky. A fantastic smart restored interior with plenty of outside seating in an interesting square, with a fantastic bronze horse statue. Well worth a visit.”

“I visited The New Oxford a couple of nights ago with my family, who were visiting from Sweden, and we had a fantastic experience. We spent the evening in the beer garden, and the two girls serving outside, one with red hair and the other wearing an England shirt were absolutely phenomenal all night. They regularly checked on us, made sure we always had drinks, and provided such friendly and attentive service throughout the evening. They really went above and beyond and made our last night together extra special. As first time visitors to The New Oxford, we were also impressed by the brilliant selection of beers and the lovely atmosphere inside the pub. Everything was spot on from start to finish. Thank you to the whole team, especially the two girls serving us in the beer garden. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after all evening. Their outstanding service made it such a memorable evening for me and my family, and we truly appreciate everything they did. We will definitely be back in the near future and would highly recommend The New Oxford to others.”

“Good old fashioned boozer with wide selection of belgian and speciality beers. Also a good selection of cask on, around half a dozen with a good variety from pale through to bitter and stout, which makes a nice change from the pale ale dominant ranges you usually see. Had a pint of bass, well served. Average price for area.”
