Customer Review Summary
Diners come mainly for the hearty pub mains, with the steak pie the most praised, alongside melt in the mouth gammon, an Angus burger, super thick chips, a lamb shank that falls off the bone and a thick, tender beef roast. Desserts get notice too, namely profiteroles and a soft, moist lemon drizzle loaf cake. Close behind are the staff, described as welcoming, attentive and helpful, and a relaxed, cozy atmosphere with a good choice of drinks, including Timothy Taylors Landlord. Reviewers also point to plenty of vegan dishes and good value. The criticism is narrower but specific. One Sunday lunch reviewer found the prawn cocktail oddly presented in a small beer glass with two prawns on a stick, and the chicken roast arrived without Yorkshire pudding and with barely cooked veg. Another felt the outdoor area has lost some character, now a standard pub garden. One group that hosted a wake said the food was plentiful and the team catered for all their needs.

“Sorry, I forgot you take a photo of the food. So, for starters I got Prawn Cocktail & my wife got Soup of the day. For mains I ordered Beef roast - At first thought it was a little strange not having any veg but the food was very nice and the beef was thick and super tender. We both were stuffed afterwards and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the pub. The staff are super nice and helpful! Thanks guys, look forward to our next visit.”

“Came for sunday lunch after work, service was quick. Ordered the prawn cocktail which was the strangest looking prawn cocktail ive ever seen, presented in small beer glass with a slice of cucumber one cherry tomato a slice of lemon and two random prawns on a stick stuck in the top, weird. You really cant go wrong with a prawn cocktail but this was wrong. Chicken roast was nice sadly no Yorkshire pudding and a bowl of uncooked veg that might of been dipped in warm water. Chicken was nice and soft and gravy was good.”

“Absolutely love coming to the Stanley Arms! I bring my mum at every chance we get, the atmosphere in there is second to none, food is amazing and the staff can’t do enough for you, you are made welcome for the second you walk in and the staff are attentive to your wishes. Jo and Andrea especially make everyone feel welcome. Only negative to this establishment is the outside area has changed recently from being close and intimate to a standard pub garden area and has lost a little of its character and charm.”

“We hosted a wake at the Stanley Arms on Monday 16 March, Joanne catered for all our needs. Such a gem of a place, everyone said how lovely the food was and plentiful. The atmosphere is so relaxed with a good choice of drinks. Good value for money and it has the personal touch. Will come back soon to sample the menu, can't wait. Thank you to Joanne and her team, you helped to make it a special day.”
