Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food, naming the steak pie with exceptionally flaky pastry first, then the teriyaki salmon on noodles, the sticky duck with honey and ginger, and a lemon roulade. Several mention a warm welcome, good value, and a lovely, homely feel, and one describes a Welsh Sunday lunch with plenty of food. Groups of six and eleven left happy, and one diner with a food allergy says the kitchen took extra precautions. The criticism centers on service and consistency. One reviewer waited over an hour with a single waitress covering the whole room, then found the steak hard to cut even with a steak knife. Others describe a rude manner at the till, feeling pushed to leave at the end of the meal, and a southern fried chicken plate with white onion in mayonnaise standing in for slaw. Even so, the praise ends on a specific moment: one diner got to tell the chef in person how good the salmon was.

“Looking a bit tired in dining area. Diners Bothered by flies and wasps throughout meal. Felt pushed at end of meal to leave. One kitchen staff in beach shorts and the other looked like he’d had an argument with the food, his white chef’s jacket was filthy. Food was ok. Mature woman with dark hair that took payment quite rude and lacking customer care skills! Won’t be returning!!”

“⚠️⚠️⚠️ AVOID ⚠️⚠️⚠️ I visited the Dynevor Arms recently for a quick meal and what should have been a relaxing burger and pint after work turned into one of the strangest dining experiences I’ve had. But the real highlight (or lowlight) was the service — or rather, the staring. There was an older lady with black hair working there who watched us the entire meal. “Table 4 haven’t paid for their pints” echoed around the building, even though we had our orders taken at the table. Every bite, every time I picked up my fork or reached for my drink, we could feel her eyes on us. It got so uncomfortable that I started wondering if I’d done something wrong. A young boy was forced to play around with the forks on the empty tables between us and the open doors. We couldn’t wait to get out of that run down building so we paid at the bar only to have the receipt thrown at us. Were we supposed to pay a tip for that kind of service? I’m not so sure. I could go on about the food also, the raw bacon, birdseye southern fried chicken breast and the two massive onions rings to make it look like something, but I’m not sure I have the characters left to use. Save your money and time!! Avoid!! Anti-working man. Ps, I’m not sure white onion doused in mayonnaise qualifies as ‘slaw’”

“What a lovely spot, was taken here by locals, and what a wonderful warm welcome we received. Sat on comfy sofa and received prompt service for a deliciously honest Welsh Sunday lunch. Lots of food. Good value. Smiles everywhere. Thank you. Update: another visit, Saturday lunch this time. Menu brilliant. Food brilliant. People brilliant. Ty again. Update: learned they are dog friendly!”

“Very slow service despite having provided the restaurant the week before with our choices. Waiting over an hour for our food to be served. Only one waitress serving the whole restaurant, she worked very hard and kept a smile on her face. Food left a lot to be desired, I had a steak and even with a steak knife I had difficulty cutting it. Disappointed as the restaurant itself is lovely with a nice homely feeling.”
