Customer Review Summary
Sunday roasts draw the most praise, with the roast pork belly, a traditional roast and a vegan roast, and a cranberry and nut roast all described as delicious, and reviewers point to the large Yorkshire pudding, crackling and shared dishes of veg. Close behind are the pan fried sea bass and a well cooked burger, plus a good choice of beers and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and families mention the garden play area, the beer garden and walks nearby with dogs. Longtime regulars describe going back for decades. The criticism is specific. One lunch brought microwaved pork belly with lumpy mash and tasteless puddings, with no apology when the diner complained, and one longtime visitor found few menu options and larger prices that did not match the portions. Another reviewer found it hard to eat in hot weather because of so many flies. Several close on a plan to return.

“Lovely food and great service. Some kind of hidden fly trap or insect killer is needed as it's very difficult to eat in hot weather with so many flies. Otherwise it was a brilliant lunch.”

“Went with the Mrs and granddaughter to this charming pub. Took dogs for a walk up Abbots Wood then stopped for food and a refreshing pint (or two) in the beer garden. Food was delicious and a nice selection of beers. Service was quick for the food and served with a smile. Will definitely go back again”

“Delicious food in a beautiful setting with space for the kids to play. I had the pan fried sea bass and it was delicious, cooked to perfection. They have a play ground in the garden which meant my children could run around until the food arrived and they are surround by beautiful country walks. Would definitely recommend and we will be back!”

“Went there today for my adult son's birthday, 5 adults 2 kids and a toddler. We were well catered for by the friendly staff. The grub was plentiful and of high quality. I opted for the roast pork belly, and I was not disappointed. A massive slice of crackling topped pork, a large Yorkshire pud, and stuffing. Veg came in a dish for us all to share and there was some left over so plenty to go round. Total bill for us all including 4 desserts and 2 rounds of drinks came to £205 which we thought was great value for money for a high quality Sunday roast in good surroundings. We'll be back!”
