Customer Review Summary
Large portions are the center of the praise, with reviewers repeatedly pairing them with food they call delicious and fair value. Diners name the hunters chicken burger, pulled pork burger, fish and chips, lasagne and a banoffee pie, and one family notes the puddings come in regular or small sizes, with the regular ones huge. Several mention friendly staff, a dog friendly welcome and outdoor seating, and a few say the place is popular enough that booking a table is wise. Complaints are fewer but specific. One birthday party found the roast dinners dry, with pre-sliced looking meat, overcooked vegetables and soggy potatoes, and describes a tired, dirty looking venue. They received refunds on two meals and several went elsewhere for another roast. Another reviewer found a midweek lunch loud and cramped by the bar, and one wasn't asked about allergies before ordering. A diner who came for roast was disappointed there was no cauliflower cheese, but was given a free dessert with the roast.

“So confused by the good reviews for this place. I chose it on recommendation for my birthday lunch, and honestly, it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Most of us ordered the roast dinners and not one person had a good thing to say about theirs. The meat appeared to be the pre sliced, processed type rather than carved from a joint, and was unbelievably dry. The vegetables were completely overcooked and clearly had been sitting around for far too long. The potatoes were tasteless, soggy and genuinely awful. They did refund two of the meals, which I appreciate, but quite honestly I’m annoyed that we paid for any of them. Several of us actually ended up booking another restaurant afterwards and going for another roast because we had barely touched the food here. And unfortunately, the food wasn’t even the only issue. The venue itself looks tired, dirty and completely in need of some TLC. My drink arrived in a huge Fosters pint glass, which I remember thinking at the time was probably a bad sign… and unfortunately, I was right. 😂 I genuinely cannot understand the positive reviews. Perhaps we caught them on an exceptionally bad day, but based on our experience, I absolutely would not recommend this place.”

“Lovely pub resturant, with a good out door space with plenty of seating. Lovely chilled atmosphere, and the food has been delicious each time we have been so far. Portions are BIG, so go on an empty stomach haha! But a lovely place. Some prices for certain things I think are a bit high i.e nearly £5 for a pepsi max. And would be good to have a drinks menu. And I would also make sure you let them know if you have an allergy/dietry need before you order as we were not asked. But apart from that, lovely 😊”

“Fantastic food with a good range and portions, a very good all round pub. We came on a weds lunchtime which was very loud and quite cramped. We were sat by the bar where there was clearly not enough space and it was hard to relax. However the staff, food and everything else was Fantastic. We will defo come again but maybe sit outside or ask to be in a different area of the pub.”

Excellent quality food with large portions , very good value , friendly female servers , prompt service and nice atmosphere. Will definitely return again. All our party of 5 were full of praise for this enjoyable experience. Highly recommended. Brian Shiels.”
