About The Cuckmere Inn
The Cuckmere Inn is a pub in Seaford on Cuckmere Haven, overlooking National Trust marshlands by the River Cuckmere. Views reach towards Seven Sisters from both inside and outside, which makes it a practical stop for walkers before or after a Seven Sisters walk. The kitchen serves burgers alongside Belgium Fries and Halloumi Fries, and cask ales are poured at the bar. For lighter orders, a bar snack menu sits next to sharing platters meant for passing around the table.

Customer Review Summary
Walkers stopping in before or after a Seven Sisters hike make up most of the praise, and the views across the marshes and the beer garden on a sunny day come up repeatedly. Reviewers single out the Belgium Fries and Halloumi Fries, the sharing platters, and the bar snack menu, along with a good choice of lager and local beers. The burgers draw the sharpest complaints. One diner found two burgers burnt solid, with stale bread and off-tasting mayonnaise, and a replacement was no better. Another waited far beyond an hour for a burnt signature burger covered in processed cheese sauce, and a third said the burgers were disappointing next to good starters. Slow service and queuing to order are noted, and a few describe staff as not especially friendly. One reviewer was refused a table booking and parking before a walk, and another notes that plates must be registered inside to avoid a parking charge. A replacement burger arriving after the burnt first one is the detail that recurs.

“The most horrible burger I have ever had. The burger was so burnt it was rock hard. I was so hungry after the hike, I tried to eat it, but it was rock solid. I asked them to exchange the burger as I honestly couldn’t continue eating it. They brought another burger around, But it was still horrible. The bread was stale, The mayonnaise tasted off and low quality. My friends burger arrived shortly after, And her burger was also black and solid from being burnt. Which is a bit of a joke. On the way out, we approached a member of staff at the door, and we said we knew it’s not her fault as she’s only behind the bar, but the food was horrible. She did not ask us what happened or say sorry at all. She just said “ok” while laughing. The woman who brought the burgers outside to us was behind the counter and she could hear everything but she just stared at us with an unbothered expression. What a horrible experience, food and customer service!! Would not recommend!!”

“We ordered 1 burger on a day with only a few customers, it took an hour to arrive, and was badly burnt - the waitress kindly brought us a replacement, but all in we waited 1 hour 45 mins for a single plate of edible food. Paying £20 for a ‘signature’ burger only for it to arrive burnt and smothered in processed cheese sauce after an entire hour was a real disgrace”

“Great setting. Luke provided a warm & friendly welcome with a kind smile and gentle manner. Compliments to chefs Jodi, Holly, Liv & Sid for plentiful portions of well needed sharing platters. Highly recommend the Belgium Fries & Halloumi Fries.”

The view is nothing short of spectacular, enhancing the overall dining experience. The service is exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure every guest has a memorable time. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for a great dining experience, and I highly recommend it to all. Five stars without a doubt!”

“Lovely place to eat. My only reason for taking a star was the car parking. We went in and asked if we could park and book a table for 90 min later so we could go for a walk first but we were told no we couldn’t park there first even if we booked. And we couldn’t book a table either so we had to park down the road walk and then come to the pub”
