About Old Plough

Old Plough is a pub in Seaford serving British food, found at 20 Church St close to the train station. It works as both a pub and a restaurant, and its rooms let visitors stay overnight and eat under one roof. A pub quiz gives guests something to join in with. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the food, calling it excellent and very good, with friendly, helpful staff close behind and a Sunday pub quiz and good drinks also mentioned. One reviewer calls the new dark paint gloomy. Another found most of a steak inedible from tough fat, though cooked beautifully, and was checked on only when nearly finished.

“Food was.. Okay. Most of the steak was inedible due to the level of tough fat left on. It was cooked beautifully but the cut itself wasn't good. Seemed like a generous portion until you realise you can't eat half of it. It wasn't very pleasant. No one greeted us when we came in, we were checked on when we were virtually finished. It just wasn't as good as it could've been sadly. I'm not entirely sure we got everything we were supposed to either. I don't think I'd go back.”

“Terrible experience last night, went down with my girlfriend, who has recently started a new job as a paralegal so had a long week, but we regularly visit when she’s down as it’s the best Seaford has to offer... But when we got there, we ordered drinks and were asked to show id, fair enough we are both 22 so still get asked from time to time. They accepted my passport, but for some reason they weren’t having my girlfriend’s perfectly legitimate full driving license. The girls serving at the bar weren’t sure and handed it to the bouncer. But the bouncer shone his silly little blue light on it and came back, in a very bullish tone suggesting that it’s fake because a number was missing from the back (even though those numbers only exist on provisionals and not full driving licenses, so get your facts right mate). This power-trip then led to him pressing my girlfriend with irrelevant questions in front of a crowd, making her feel uncomfortable. The ill-informed and rude bouncer then threatened to confiscate her Id or we had to leave. The whole experience was humiliating for both of us, and they claim to be trying to protect themselves against underage drinkers but maybe it’s just a prejudice they have against those who aren’t regular. Their manager (who has a reputation) was very rude over the phone admitting no fault. We took our business elsewhere to the boot and had a great time. Certainly won’t be returning here.”
