Quick info
About Armado Lounge
Armado Lounge is a restaurant on the Barbican in Plymouth, at Units A-D, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows on several sides that look out over Sutton Harbour and the Barbican docks. Food is served all day, from breakfast and brunch dishes like poached eggs on white bread to tapas, nasi goreng and lounge eggs with smoked salmon. A separate gluten free and vegan menu sits alongside the main one, and the kitchen takes special dietary requests and food allergies into account. Mismatched furniture, pictures, ornaments and lampshades fill the room, and the staff do not wear uniforms. Board games are on hand for older and younger guests, toys are there for the smallest, and dogs are welcome and get refreshments of their own.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the harbour and the Barbican, paired with an eclectic interior of mismatched furniture and unusual lampshades. The food comes close behind. One diner praises the nasi goreng, the lounge eggs with smoked salmon and a soft, chewy chocolate brownie, while others mention poached eggs, tapas, a Louisiana chicken plate and excellent flat white coffees. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, and one reviewer with multiple food allergies felt totally at ease across two visits. A few note the menu's popularity with tourists, and one reviewer brought a dog along. Complaints are minor but specific. One found the floor sticky in a place or two, another was told there was no brown bread for the poached eggs, and a third found the breakfast too large with no smaller version, plus very fatty bacon. Several mention clean toilets. One tapas diner who disliked fizzy drinks asked for watermelon iced tea without soda, and the staff complied.

“Wish I could give the staff at this Lounge more than 5*. Both at early lunch and late afternoon on the same day. Both times their professional and welcoming approach to someone with multiple food allergies was so reassuring. It’s a long time that I have felt totally at ease eating out. Wish other places were so welcoming. You all are such a credit to the company. Will be trying other Lounges in Devon and hope that I get the same wonderful treatment. A big thank you.”
