Quick info
About Yellow Wood Cafe
Yellow Wood Cafe is a coffee shop at 42 Chilwell Rd in Nottingham, with rooms across three floors and a secluded garden at the rear. Quiet rooms can be booked for working or meeting friends and colleagues, and the upstairs working spaces have power points for laptops. Extended laptop working upstairs carries a nominal fee. The drinks list covers hot chocolate, including a hot white chocolate, alongside teas and cold drinks. The cakes and baked goods change daily, and lemon drizzle cake is one of them. A lunch menu adds soup, such as tomato soup with sourdough. Dogs are welcome. The Broxtowe car park is opposite, and a tram stop is about two minutes up the road.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to Yellow Wood Cafe mainly for the coffee, with the hot chocolate, a cappuccino and a matcha latte singled out. Cakes and bakes come close behind, including lemon drizzle, brownies with a vegan version that was not too sweet, and fruit bread. Lunch gets mentions too, with tomato soup and sourdough, a chicken sandwich, and toasties. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and several describe the atmosphere as relaxing and chilled. The quiet upstairs rooms with power points and fast wifi draw people working on laptops, while one reviewer enjoyed breakfast in the peaceful back garden. Complaints are small but specific: one found the seating closer together than necessary, one thought the hot chocolate pricier than expected, and one noted there are no high chairs for families with babies. Another says the cafe fills up around mid afternoon after a quiet start. One reviewer who visited on opening day left with a cappuccino to go after chatting with the friendly owner.

“This is a brilliant little cafe. I visited 3 days in a row whist staying nearby, and needing a place to work remotely. There are quiet working spaces upstairs with lots of power points and fast wifi, friendly staff and a very tasty range of soups, toasties, and sweet treats to go with the excellent coffee. A pleasure to spend a few hours there each day.”
