About The Coffee Shop
Cooked breakfasts anchor the kitchen at The Coffee Shop, an independent coffee shop off the marketplace in Bulwell, in Banks Yard, Nottingham. Breakfasts come in small and large sizes alongside a full English, with the outsized Belly Buster for bigger appetites. The rest of the menu runs to burgers and chips, toasties, jacket potatoes and kids' meals, all written up on a blackboard behind the counter with a separate board for daily specials. There is no booking, so customers walk in and order at the counter, and the team brings plates to the table. A step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without stairs, and outdoor tables under umbrellas suit anyone who wants to eat in the open air, with more seating indoors. The couple who run it open Monday to Saturday during the daytime and close on Sundays. Toilet facilities are available on site.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return mainly for the full English breakfast, with the Belly Buster and the large breakfast singled out as big plates that include a tea or coffee with a refill. Close behind are cheese toasties, burgers and the kids' meals, and several mention a daily specials board. Food is described as nicely cooked, served hot and not greasy, with one reviewer pointing to the orange juice in a jam jar glass. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, service is quick even when busy, and regulars say they feel welcome every visit. Several call the prices fair for the quality and the portions, and the outdoor tables with sun umbrellas get a mention. One reviewer wanted more Lincolnshire sausages. The one sharply negative account describes a chicken burger and a burger arriving bare on a cob with no salad or sauce, the chips black and green, and the plates carried back to the counter after one bite each.

“Breakfast. A well established cafe located Banks Yard. The menu is on a blackboard behind the counter as you walk in. There's daily specials as well as burgers, toasties, jacket potatoes, and kids' meals. But we're here for, you guessed it, breakfast. There's a small breakfast at £6.50 for the lightweights. Or what we chose : Large breakfast £7.50 2 x Bacon,2 x sausage,1 x egg,1x hash brown, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried bread, and toast. Of course, we had to have The Belly Buster £9.50 3 x bacon,3 x sausage,2 x egg,2 x hash brown, Beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried bread, and toast. Both breakfasts include a tea or coffee with a refill if you want one. Our order arrived at the table pretty quickly and was served by one of the lovely ladies even though they were quite busy. We left with full satisfied bellies that didn't break the bank as it's very good value. Support your local independents and give the chains a miss,it's much more appreciated.”
