Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the riverside setting and broads views, with the log fire, the toast at breakfast and the duck at dinner named along the way. Food draws praise, with portion sizes called lovely and the breakfast described as excellent, and staff are repeatedly called friendly and accommodating, including one who found a quiet space for a training course. Service pace is the recurring complaint. Several describe slow dinners and staff who seemed understaffed, one party waited a long time to give an order, and another found the duck looked dry and had been under a heat lamp, though it tasted very good. One group booked a table for brunch and was told none was served, then had to go to the bar after being promised table service. Another party was told only two meals had been cooked, found the pork left under a hot lamp with shriveled vegetables, and accepted a refund and a free round of drinks. Drinks were called expensive, and one guest found the sofa bed uncomfortable.

“Really lovely stay from start to finish. I stayed overnight and had dinner here, which was lovely. The following day I needed somewhere quiet to attend a training course and the team went out of their way to accommodate me, providing a suitable space where I could work. Everyone was incredibly friendly, flexible and accommodating throughout my stay, which I really appreciated. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through the area who needs somewhere to stay. Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality!”

“Had a table booked for 5 of us for 11am for brunch as we were booked onto the boat sailing at 1pm, so that would give us enough time to enjoy our food. Unfortunately we got told that they dont do brunch, and breakfast had stopped at 10.30am. We were told someone would come and take our order at 11.55 so we could get our food quicker. No one came to take our order so we had to go to the bar. Only to overhear a member of staff telling other customers that they would all have to order at the bar, which is fair enough. But why tell us someone would come and take our order. The item that I ordered, the staff couldn't find it on their till, stating it wasnt available, yet it was on the menu. They even had to check with the chef to be told they did do it. Our food finally arrived at 12.35, leaving us not a lot of time to enjoy what we had ordered. No complaints about the food, it was lovely. Won't be returning though due to booking for brunch and being told they dont serve it. Why are you able to book a table for 11am if you cant order food until 12pm?”

“Stayed 2 nights in a Family room. 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner. Positives: Location is excellent and beautiful on the river. Pub is lovely. Breakfast quality was excellent. Staff are kind and helpful. Room: lovely view, good bathroom, clean and well stocked for water tea coffee etc. Downsides: Sofa bed uncomfortable, mattress very thin. Dinner was nice but they were understaffed, some elements underwhelming. Rest still very good though. Overall a lovely stay and definitely would recommend, hopefully the poor staff get extra help as they all seemed to be working really hard!”

“Another gorgeous pub with lovely staff in beautiful surroundings. We visited yesterday for drinks and sat overlooking the broads. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the views especially. Dog friendly and family friendly too and internally very pleasing. Visited 8th of July 2026”
