Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the food, served piping hot, with steak in ale pie, chicken liver pate, southern fried chicken strips with gravy and sticky toffee pudding all singled out. One reviewer found the meat in the Sunday roast lovely, and the chips get a mention too. Close behind are the staff, repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and one server is credited with looking after a table all evening. Reviewers also note plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices, a cosy interior, well behaved dogs welcome in the bar, and live music that one visitor called a real treat. Complaints are minor. One found the soup small and the Sunday roast a little high in price, another came for an offer on the website that was no longer available, and a third could not tip a server on a phone payment. One family held a wake for 60 plus guests with the whole place to themselves and a gluten free buffet arranged beforehand.

“Wonderful food, great spot for lunch with friends. Ample seating and a lovely setting. The staff couldn't do enough for us and made us feel really welcome. Noticed they do a few offers through the week so we will definitely be back to try those when we are next passing. Chris was so friendly and answered all our questions about the menu due to myself having a nut and tree nut allergy. Can't wait to return.”
