About The Ring O' Bells

The Ring O' Bells is a pub in Frodsham on Bellemonte Road, with beams and fires in an old-style interior. The bar serves at least four cask beers alongside lagers. In the kitchen, the food is homemade, and a specials board runs next to a limited menu. Dogs are welcome, and the team puts out water and treats for them, which suits walkers who bring a pet along. A vegetarian option is part of the roast dinner offering. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the food, with the specials board and the pub's own dishes drawing the most detail: tempura battered haddock with mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce, a seafood basket, rib-eye steak, crispy chilli beef, salmon, a vegetarian Sunday roast and a beef and ale pie with a huge portion. Desserts such as chocolate fudge cake and raspberry bakewell tart with custard also earn praise. Close behind is the drink, with at least four cask beers, a good lager choice and draught stouts. The cosy, beamed country-pub feel with fires comes up repeatedly, along with friendly, quick service even when the pub was full. Several mention bringing dogs, with water and biscuits provided, and one suggests booking a table to avoid disappointment. The one complaint came from a diner with coeliac disease who arrived around 8.20pm and was told food stopped at 8.30pm, with no mention of that on the menus or boards. The family left for another venue, though the reviewer later amended the rating after learning the times. One group's pre-ordered meal arrived five minutes after the coach pulled in.

“Arrived, looking at the menu. Sat outside around 8.20pm. Staff member saw us. We went to order food was told by staff member food stops 8.30pm. Nowhere does it state in menus that food stops at a certain time. Or anywhere on any boards on the wall. We drove ftom Runcorn and partner drove from Gloucester for birthday meal. I have coeliac. Food recommended. Disappointed as was my son with learning disabilities. We ended up driving to Warrington and visited Dorado lounge who have a huge list of gf food. Such a shame. Please suggest to staff if they see 3 people looking at menus to mention time that food stops. **Amended my 1 star to 4 as eaten before as food was good. Thanks for letting us know re times we didnt see those.”

“Absolutely fantastic. I brought a party of 16 Chinese customers on a coach up from London. RoB’s took a pre-order, and the food was served five minutes after we arrived. It was delicious, my guests were impressed, and the pub was beautiful, too. Recommend”

“Beer garden is lovely and the beef and ale pie was delicious - huge portion too.”
  • Doug Tomlinson
“Great lunch stop cosy pub, beams and fires at the end of the sandstone trail circular. Beer, food, atmosphere absolutely brilliant. Was in my element with a chicken madras and half & half, pint of Founders listening to John Denver quietly in the background. 😀 Whoever selects the music give them a medal, made me feel like a kid in the 70s, all fitted the vibe somehow - just perfect.”
