Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming staff come up in nearly every review. Reviewers describe a server who was patient on a slow day and another who offered to have the kitchen cook a sausage for a visiting dog. Food draws praise close behind: a sharer platter of belly pork, gourmet sausage roll and hot honey chicken called outstanding, huge and delicious Sunday roasts, and Full English breakfasts. One diner calls the gravy the best, and a breakfast reviewer only wished for a slice of black pudding. Two reviewers report food problems. One found a specials burger dry, with overcooked chips and a tiny piece of lettuce, and would return only for a drink. Another received a steak and ale pie with barely any steak, basically a gravy pie. That diner says staff resolved it, it has not put them off returning, and both desserts and the wife's main were excellent.

“We called in for lunch with our fur baby today and was seated quickly with a great spot for our boy to have a good nosey at the comings and goings. James looked after us and he was a delight. Extremely polite and friendly with a good knowledge of the food menu. James even said he could ask the chef to put à sausage through for the boy (not a freebie by the way) so he didn’t feel left out. The food came within good amount of time and thoroughly enjoyed.”

“Ciara has been an absolute gem! We visited twice over the weekend and she was so friendly, warm and welcoming both times. She was also really patient with us on Sunday when we were having a bit of a slower day, which we really appreciated! She was just genuinely lovely and made us feel so welcome. She’s a real credit to the team and definitely deserves a shoutout! We’ll definitely be back 😊”

“I was working around and wanted something to eat. Popped in and had something quick for lunch. Quick and good food. Enjoyed it and probably will go back whenever I’m around there. Lovely waitress and service.”

“Staff & atmosphere were lovely, would definitely return back for a drink! However will not be eating here again, I ordered a burger off the specials menu, which was dry with a tiny piece of lettuce with it. Chips were all dry and over cooked. Unfortunately very disappointed with the food, could have cooked it better at home myself :(”
