Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast is the main draw, with diners praising huge homemade Yorkshire puddings, succulent turkey, good gravy, plentiful vegetables and a lamb shank roast. Close behind are a full English and pancakes and waffles at breakfast, afternoon tea with cakes and sandwiches, and fish and chips with really crispy batter, though one reviewer found it a little greasy by the end. Staff are called friendly and welcoming, and one family says they found a quiet spot for their son with autism without being asked. The sharpest complaint comes from a longtime Sunday regular whose trio of meats arrived with salty ham, beef full of hard grizzly fat, roast potatoes that looked a day old and rock hard broccoli, after a wait at the booking desk and fetching their own drinks. Another reviewer found service a little slow. One visitor with dogs reports extra water and treats for them.

“This is probably our 12th visit on a Sunday and our last visit. We had to wait 5 mins at the booking in desk even to be acknowledged. Shown to the table eventually, marks on table. Again ignored for drinks, had to go get them myself. Eventually our order of 2 x trio of meats arrived, the roast potatoes looked a day old, the broccoli was rock hard. The ham was to salty couldn't eat it, turkey again looked as if it had been left out in a hot room. The beef quality was awful not upto usual standard ful Of hard grizzly fat. Normally the beef is fantastic this was awful. Turkey not even a whole slice, same for ham, 1 slice of beef you cdnt eat. Summarise the meats, we took 80 % of them home for our Westie. Total spend with meal, drinks £ 108 NEVER AGAIN we'll try The Fishpool down the road. When we passed there before our meal full to the rafters, now I know why. Money is tight for everyone, I won't spend mine here again.”

“Four of us went for the Sunday roast after birthday celebrations the night before. They had put a birthday banner and card on the table which was nice of them. Hubster is GF and the staff were helpful. We ordered 2 of the Roast sharing platters WOW they had plenty of vegetables, tasty meat and the Yorkshires were massive! We would defo return for a roast and defo recommend others to go too! We dove straight in so here's some images from their Insta & Google.”

“Found this lovely friendly pub on a little drive out with the family. We stopped for a late lunch and we were so glad we did. The staff are amazing and the food was equally fantastic. We have a son with autism and they staff recognised this without us having to mention it and found us a quiet spot to dine. This shows just how amazing they are. They were so accommodating. I can recommend the homemade stake and ale pie and apple crumble as well as sunday roast or fish and chips. We will see you again very soon. Thank you for such a lovely day.”
