About Fenham Fish Bar
Fenham Fish Bar is a fish and chips takeaway in Newcastle Upon Tyne, at 21 Stamfordham Rd. The kitchen cooks its chips in beef dripping, which sets the base for the fish and chips order, with haddock or cod as the choices. A chip stottie and a battered Mars bar are also on the menu for anyone after something beyond the standard plate. Orders are served in a box, and the team takes them for collection.

Customer Review Summary
The caveat is value and consistency. Several call it expensive for what arrives, one citing a chip stottie and a portion of chips as pricey, another a takeaway box with no smaller chip option and bland fish. Others report hard, undercooked chips, greasy batter on a delivery, and chips with skin and grit. A deep-fried Mars bar came out as a chocolate sausage, and the phone went unanswered when the customer tried to call. One order mixed up extra chips and gave mushy peas instead of curry sauce, and another time the spicy curry sauce had run out.

“Excellent Fish & Chips. The staff was very friendly and honestly having a great time behind the counter. Somehow the takeaway tastes better when you know the people making it were enjoying themselves. Unfortunately for us, they ran out of spicy curry sauce, but I had a solution. This is a secret you can use if it happens to you. Get the regular curry, then drive down the block to Aldi and get a shaker of cayenne pepper. It's on an end cap. Sprinkle that in your curry sauce, or whatever you want to be spicy, and you've got it. Problem solved. The fish was big. I got the Haddock, my date got the Cod. I preferred the Haddock, but both were good. They were generous with the salt, and the batter was crispy even after driving for 10 minutes. Lots of fries, enough to get a bottle of ketchup.”

“Real shame, asked to take off extra mars bar as only wanted one, she also removed extra chips from cod as a mistake. Given mushy peas instead of curry sauce. Super expensive, just ok and hubby is still hungry.”

“I have fish and chips and sometimes other delicious food from Fenham Fish Bar every week and I have never tasted better. Today after a fall at home I enquired if I could have my other delivered. No problem! Within 10 minutes my lunch was here, piping hot and excellent as usual. Thanks to everyone at the Fish Bar. X”

“Ordered the most expensive English fish and chips to take away I've ever paid. 15 pounds 60 pence. They don't offer smaller chips. Very nice staff very clean and tidy. The fish and chips was presented very well in a nice box. But after that the experience went downhill. The fish was very bland and tasteless alongside the chips. I think you pay for the fancy box. Never buy again even if the food was good my god the price just ridiculous”

“Easily hands down the best fish and chips in Newcastle. Can only find better if you head to the coast, Northumberland or further a field. Friendly staff, reasonably priced these days and good quality.”
