  “I had such high hopes for this place and I've rarely walked out of a restaurant feeling as flat as I did here. I booked for 19 August for my wife's birthday. I'd seen Vermilion praised over and over on TikTok and I wanted to give her somewhere special. I even rang ahead, before we came, specifically to tell them it was her birthday, because I wanted the night to feel like something. Nothing was done with that. No acknowledgement, no candle, not so much as a happy birthday. I'd handed them everything they needed to make her evening and they did nothing with it. The food was a mixed bag. The lamb karahi was genuinely good and I'll happily give credit for it. The sushi was poor and I'd tell anyone to skip it. We ordered three naan breads and received one, and when I went to ask for the rest there wasn't a single member of staff to be found anywhere in the room. That was the evening in a nutshell. Once the plates were down the service simply evaporated. The bill arrived and the staff more or less vanished with it, and they began closing the restaurant around us while we were still sitting there. You don't want to feel like an inconvenience being swept out of the door on a night you've saved for and looked forward to. When I raised all of this, the only thing offered was a "sorry", which doesn't undo an evening that's already gone. I'm not writing this to be harsh. I wanted to love it. But a birthday only comes once a year, I chose this place carefully on the strength of what people said about it online, and my wife deserved better than what she got. I've asked Vermilion for a refund of what we paid that night, and I think it's a fair request. We didn't receive the service we were charged for, and no part of the evening resembled what was promised. If the service matched the karahi this would be a strong restaurant. As things stand it doesn't come close to the reputation it has.”

  “We booked an early dinner here before we went to a Take That concert at the Ethiad and the whole experience was a shambles. The staff are so disorganised it’s untrue. All 6 tables in the area we sat were complaining about food and drinks not arriving. We ordered a Diet Coke and sparkling water as drinks - the water arrived after 10 minutes and the Diet Coke after 20 minutes! We had just ordered a main course as we wanted to watch the support acts at the Ethiad - me a lamb bhuna and my wife the lamb shank massaman curry with rice and a garlic naan. My curry arrived cold/warm and my wife’s was delivered to the table next to us (they only received her dish but they were a table for 4 and wondered whose it was!) after a few minutes they could see that we were missing a dish and realised it could be what they had. It was almost cold before she got it. Our rice never actually arrived by the time we had finished so sent it back - no point in giving customers a side dish when they’ve already eaten their food. I have to say, and to give balance to this review, the garlic naan was fantastic - so tasty and crispy. So in the end it was a complete disaster - food not even warm, food not arriving, etc. I realise there are many great reviews here which suggests we just experienced a very poor night. At least the concert was great afterwards!”

  “Had a really lovely experience at Vermilion. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour, and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. What made the visit even better was our waiter, Satu. He was so welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout the evening, always happy to help and making sure we had everything we needed. His excellent service really added to the overall experience and made us feel genuinely looked after. We would definitely come back again, and hopefully Satu will be serving us next time too! Highly recommended.”

  “What an absolutely wonderful experience at Vermilion. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality by the incredible manager, June. She was attentive, inviting, thoughtful, and made us feel truly valued throughout the entire evening. June’s hosting skills are simply brilliant — the kind of hospitality that instantly makes you feel comfortable, relaxed, and cared for. Her warm personality and attention to detail created such a lovely atmosphere and made the whole dining experience feel extra special. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. A huge thank you to June and the whole team at Vermilion for such a memorable evening. We’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for amazing food and truly outstanding hospitality. Oh lest I forget the decor is just out of this world!   “Had such a lovely experience here! June the manager, was so kind, welcoming and attentive from start to finish. The service was genuinely amazing and made the whole experience even better.   “A very beautiful restaurant with excellent service. Unfortunately the food did not meet my expectations, the sushi presentation was messy and served with wasabi from a tube which tasted stale. The bindi (okra fries) left a bitter/burnt aftertaste and we found them very difficult to eat, the chickpea batter was overwhelming and dry. Korean chicken wings were quite tasty, but an extremely small portion. For mains we ordered lamb bhuna and lamb shank curry served with jasmine rice. Both were very good sized portions, but sadly the flavours were underwhelming. The ambience of the restaurant is calm and pleasant, our waitress was very friendly and served our food with care. We’d like to thank the waitress for bringing our toddler some shredded beetroot with a dip which he thoroughly enjoyed, very thoughtful of you.”

  “I came here for part of a bridal shower celebration and everything was amazing. The food was delicious, I would definitely recommend the steak. Also the customer service and atmosphere was really good. The server Asif made the experience so lovely! Thank you!”

  “We visited on Valentine’s Day. This was a surprise my husband had booked as he knew I wanted to try this restaurant for a long time. It was meant to be a special evening. Instead, it was stressful, chaotic and incredibly disappointing! Food 2/5: We ordered beef dumplings for starters. Followed by butter chicken with garlic naan and lobster ravioli. The dumplings were decent. The garlic naan was good. The violet sky mocktail was enjoyable. However, this is where the positives end. The butter chicken was bland and overwhelmingly creamy lacking any real depth, spice or balance. The chicken pieces were so big and my husband found a bone in one of them which was completely unacceptable and enough to put anyone off their meal (it did for me). The lobster ravioli portion was extremely small and underwhelming in flavour. For the pricing and reputation of this restaurant the quality did not justify the cost. We skipped dessert because the service delays made it clear it would be another long wait. Service 1/5 (more like zero stars): The service was unacceptable. We had a 6:15pm reservation and arrived only 10 minutes late due to traffic, yet still waited an additional 30 minutes to be seated in a cramped waiting area. The restaurant was visibly overbooked with multiple people left standing and frustrated. Accepting reservations you cannot honour properly is poor management. My husband had to repeatedly flag staff down throughout the evening. He had to explain that I am heavily pregnant so we could finally be seated, to request menus that should have been provided immediately and again to chase drinks. Drinks arrived after the food and only after we asked. No one checked on our table once. The restaurant is large, yet clearly understaffed. On one of the busiest and most profitable days of the year, failing to organise adequate staffing shows a lack of planning and consideration for customers. Atmosphere 3/5: The decor is beautiful, but aesthetics cannot compensate for chaos. The overcrowding ruined any sense of romance. On our way out, the queue stretched down the stairs to the ground floor with people crammed together. Felt quite sorry for them not going to lie. It felt disorganised and uncomfortable rather than special. Several diners around us looked frustrated and one couple left most of their food untouched, which says a lot. Overall 2/5: This experience felt like profit was prioritised over quality and customer care. Valentine’s Day should not be an excuse to overbook, understaff and lower standards. A beautiful venue means very little when the service is stressful and the food is mediocre. We left disappointed and would not return.”

  “went on a tuesday evening with my boyfriend!! was quiet when we went and the atmosphere was LOVELY!! had the best service from our waiter (i didn’t catch his name but he had long hair and mentioned he was from thailand) and would 100% recommend this restaurant. portions were LARGE and food was hot and freah”

  “Highly Recommended! 😍🤩 Vermillion made my daughter’s Mehndi night truly unforgettable. The staff were extremely cooperative from day one. Jenny was very professional and organised everything beautifully. Trupti, who guided us throughout the event, was amazing. The seating arrangement, venue, staff, food, and sound system — everything was perfect. Vermillion helped make the entire evening memorable, and all my guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you to the entire Vermillion team you were wonderful !!”
