Quick info
About Elnecot
Elnecot is a modern British restaurant at 41 Blossom St in Manchester, set in a narrow room with an industrial look. Its weekly steak night packs three courses and a glass of wine into one set meal. Small plates are made for sharing, and the croquettes sit alongside crispy potatoes and roasted beets with feta. At lunchtime, a soup and sandwich deal pairs a soup of the day, which changes, with options like braised beef with mayo, served with extra gravy. The roast comes with a choice of chicken or beef, and burgers and a BBQ chicken sandwich round out the mains. Sticky toffee pudding is among the desserts. A cocktail list runs alongside the food, and a happy hour is offered. Brunch is part of the offer too.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the Sunday roast, with chicken and beef both singled out, and one calls it the only place they go for a roast in Manchester. Close behind is the weekday soup and sandwich lunch deal, with braised beef with mayo and steak frites salsa verde sandwiches alongside harissa spiced veggie and spiced carrot and parsnip soups, which diners call good value. Others praise the oxtail orzo, roasted kohlrabi, crispy potatoes, BBQ chicken sandwich, and the Basque cheesecake. The Tuesday steak night also draws strong praise. The main reservations are small: one finds the small plates a little pricey, and one brunch diner was given rhubarb french toast instead of the mixed berry listed and wished for the choice. Service is described as warm and friendly, and one reviewer with a food allergy notes staff went down the menu marking what could be eaten or substituted. One group received a candle on their pudding without mentioning a birthday, and another was given complimentary fizz.

“Came for lunch and had the sandwich and soup deal. I chose the Steak frites salsa verse sandwich and the one soup they had was the spiced carrot and parsnip soup. I have to say this is probably the best lunch deal you can get in Manchester. It may be slightly further away from the city centre but it’s definitely worth it. The quality of food you get for £9 is fabulous and the service and atmosphere is great too. I will definitely be coming back more regularly while I’m in Manchester and this is a must try if you work somewhat nearby or are travelling to Manchester”

“I LOVED our visit here. This is possibly the best meal I’ve ever had in Manchester. We went for the £28 Tuesday steak night (three courses + a glass of wine) and have not stopped thinking about it. We actually agreed that we’d travel to Manchester from Leeds purely for this meal. Staff were all super lovely, their cocktail special was DELICIOUS and the service was really cute. Also liked their bathrooms. Wish they had clearer online signage about their happy hour since we would have come earlier for a pre-dinner drink if we’d known about it.”

“Every dish we ordered was outstanding! We had the BBQ Chicken Sandwich, croquettes, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Tiramisu, and every single one exceeded our expectations. I honestly didn’t expect a simple BBQ chicken sandwich to be this delicious. It was incredibly well made and full of flavour. You can really tell the team puts a lot of care, passion, and attention to detail into every dish they create. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back!”

“We had wonderful service and everything we ordered was fantastic! My wife has a food allergy, and they quickly went down the menu to indicate what could be enjoyed or which items might have a substitution available. I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite item, between the roasted young hen, the roasted beets and feta, or the Basque cheesecake. Highly recommend!”

“Ancoats has industrial character in spades, but making these cavernous concrete envelopes feel genuinely hospitable takes skill. Elnecot manages it well. Tucked into Cutting Room Square, it offers a relaxed neighborhood vibe backed by a sharp, seasonal menu that isn't afraid to take you on a flavour journey.. The special pickles and ferments are an excellent opening 'nibble. Far from a perfunctory palate cleanser, they offered an assertive, bright hit of acidity and crunch, with each element retaining its structural integrity. It is practically mandatory to pair this with their very fresh homemade focaccia! beautifully bouncy, olive-oil-drenched bread with a properly salted, crisp crust. For the small playes', the oxtail orzo delivered pure comfort. The pasta was perfectly al dente, suspended in a rich, glossy reduction with melt-in-the-mouth oxtail. It’s a heavy, deeply savory dish that managed to avoid feeling leaden. A flavour of winter in the summer, not an obvious choice, however, gorgeous. However, the real surprise was the roasted kohlrabi. A brassica that can easily lean towards the pedestrian, here it was roasted to a caramelized, tender vulnerability. It retained its clean, subtle sweetness while offering an almost meaty texture that easily commanded the center of the plate. Service is casual but switched-on, keeping pace with a dining room that fills up quickly. Elnecot skips the easy theatricality of "fine dining" in favor of rigorous flavor profiles and a solid understanding of ingredients. It’s a very good, grounded anchor point for the Ancoats dining scene. I was eating alone tonight and was very well looked after and made to feel at home.”
