Customer Review Summary
Seekh kebabs come up most often, described by several diners as home made, full of flavour and very tasty, though one reviewer found them full of cartilage. Close behind are the naan, called soft and a good size by those who praise it, and the mushroom rice, which one diner calls a decent portion. Reviewers also single out the Kathmandu chicken masala, vegan momos, a chilli-hot spinach dahl, methi chicken, fish tikka, chilli chicken and a mango lassi one diner ranked the best they had had. Service is repeatedly called friendly, with owners who chat and staff who accommodated a party of eight on a quiet Monday. The sharpest criticism comes from a returning diner who found the starters greasy and bland, the butter chicken dry and tough, the vegetable curry and daal watery, and the naan no better than supermarket naan. Another found the paneer dishes could have been softer and the lamb gravy in a set meal tasted old, and suggests ordering individual items instead.

“As a family we love coming here, the staff are friendly and efficient making sure that we have everything we ask for, the food is fantastic. There is a great variety of different options. We love the fish tikka and chilli chicken (it’s hot) for starters and the mackanchara is a great main course. I would highly recommend”

“We were a party of 8, from 5 different nationalities, so we’re always awkward! The guys accommodated us well. The service was good and professional, being patient with our hesitance. The food was good, and the service prompt. It was a Monday, so that allowed us the time and space to be slow, and we weren’t rushed out. We’ve been before and enjoyed it then with smaller parties, but I’m really appreciative that they accommodated us for this special occasion. Thanks guys.”

“This is a large restaurant created by combining a corner site with the adjacent shop. It’s was still busy when we arrived about 8pm on a Saturday evening but we were sat by the bar, it was cosy and we could chat easily. The owners are very friendly (with good banter) and the waiting staff were quick to solicit drinks and then food. I was delighted by the quality of the food - the spinach Dahl was chilli hot and tasted like mustard greens which was a big thumbs up from me - might be too much for some palettes. Also had methi chicken which was well executed - fenugreek has a metallic edge and feels like a cousin to mustard greens so like double denim my choices might not appeal to everybody. In short I wish this was my local ‘Indian’ in London rather than my daughter’s and I’ll definitely be back when next in Manchester. She’s coeliac and shared my dishes with rice.”

“This is a restaurant that I visit and can honestly say it is my favourite. My last visit was on 15 April and as usual received a warm welcome from Abdul. The meal, as always, was exceptional. The Seekh kebabs are home made, full of flavour and very tasty compared to the usual ones found at other comparable restaurants. I can highly recommend the Kathmandu Chicken Masala, it was unbeatable. The mushroom rice comes in a decent size portion, again very tasty. Finally, if you enjoy Nan bread, you can't go wrong here, they are a good size and again very enjoyable. I was introduced to the owner who was very pleasant and quite rightly very proud of the family run business. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this restaurant and look forward to my next visit in the not too distant future. Thank you. Gary.”
