Customer Review Summary
Diners most often come for the nasi lemak with beef rendang, which reviewers call authentic, with a drier rendang and a very spicy side sambal that lingers. Close behind are the roti canai, pandan toast and fried chicken, and several Malaysian visitors say the char kuey teow and mee goreng mamak recall food from home. Drinks draw mentions too, including kopi, cendol alongside laksa, and Milo Dinosaur, while one reviewer found the sirap bandung only fun to try. The metal mamak tables and a Malay playlist add to the homely feel, and servers are repeatedly described as friendly.

“Ordered a laksa and cendol from this place. The service was great although when I asked about the laksa and whether I would be charged extra if I just have it with the prawn instead of the chicken they said I wouldn’t, however, when I went to pay for my meal I was charged the extra price. I unfortunately only realised after I tapped my card and so it was too late to raise the issue. Besides that the laksa was quite tasty but it was a bit disappointing that they couldn’t be bothered to get rid of the digestive tract of the prawns which kind of ruined the experience a little. It was my first time having cendol and I’m glad I ordered it as it was a nice refreshing pair to the laksa.”

“Ordered Nasi Goreng Kampour and ABG. Went there with the Neotaste offer hence it’s 241. I went there when it first opened and ordered a laksa, it was fine. This is my second visit. The goreng, aka fried rice, is mildly spicy, has a decent portion size and a strong anchovy taste malaysian food lovers would love. The edges of the egg is not as crispy as compared to what you’d get from a thai resto however the yolk is perfectly gooey to mix with the savoury fried rice kernels. As for the ABG, there is not a lot of side toppings such as peanuts and anchovies, as well as the sambal. The taste of the sambal is excellent, 6/10 spicy and it has a texture that mixes really well with the pandan rice. The chicken portion is generous from the looks of it however the dish is £14+. Wifi connection there is poor. I’d recommend to try this place as novelty only.”

“I came here to introduce someone to Malaysian food for the first time. I was also craving Malaysian food myself, which is why I chose this place. My sister and I had visited before and had a good experience, so I was really looking forward to breakfast today. Unfortunately, everything seemed to go wrong from the start. We ordered two breakfast set meals and I also paid extra for the “bottomless” drinks. I asked whether the teh tarik could be served iced, but both the waiter and the person at the counter said no. That's completely fine—I had no issue with that. The problem started with the food service. My nasi lemak arrived first, and the roti canai followed some time later. However, we had ordered set meals: - Nasi lemak + kaya toast + drink - Roti canai + half-boiled egg + drink I would have expected the items within each set to arrive together or at least within a reasonable timeframe. I ate my nasi lemak very slowly while waiting for the rest of my set. When I asked about it, I was told they were short-staffed and received an apology. I understood and was willing to be patient. However, my kaya toast only arrived after my companion had already finished his roti canai. Meanwhile, I was still waiting for the half-boiled egg. At this point, neither of our drinks had been served despite having paid extra for them. After a long wait, the kopi finally arrived, but there was still no sign of the teh tarik or the half-boiled egg. What made it more frustrating was seeing a customer who arrived after us receive his food before we did. He came in much later, yet his order was served while parts of our breakfast set were still missing. Much later, I saw a staff member bring out a couple of eggs, and I immediately knew those were the half-boiled eggs we had been waiting for. By then, we had already finished eating. Eventually, I went to the counter because I was genuinely disappointed. I also noticed plenty of ice available, which made me wonder why it wasn't possible to serve an iced teh tarik when I had originally asked but that was fine. To make matters worse, when I got to the counter, I was told that they were only just about to start making the teh tarik and the half-boiled egg. At that point, we had already finished our meal. I was honestly very disappointed. The staff did apologised, and I appreciate that, but the experience was frustrating. I had deliberately eaten slowly because I wanted to enjoy the half-boiled egg together with the rest of my breakfast. As a fellow Malaysian, I felt embarrassed bringing my companions here for their first experience of Malaysian food. The food itself was good, but the service really needs improvement. If staffing levels are an issue, perhaps the menu should be reduced temporarily so that orders can be fulfilled properly and customers receive complete meals in a reasonable timeframe.”

“It was great to try some traditional Malaysian food. I had the nasi lemak beef rendang; the sauce was quite spicy, but everything worked really well together and I'd happily order it again. I also tried the sirap bandung drink. I'm not sure I'd have it again, but it was fun to try something different. A good restaurant to go to for a midweek chilled meal”

“Just finished Jumaat prayer and thought it'd be great to grab a set of Roti Canai Telur and Milo Dinosaur. Everything is great I enjoyed the £5 roti canai (cheap for what's the portion), feeling very satisfied and full. Shout out to Min and Olivia who accomodated my lunch, elevates my experience, absolutely splendid! 🤏🤏”
