About TOPS Buffet Restaurant Manchester

TOPS Buffet Restaurant Manchester is an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant on Portland St in Manchester, serving Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Thai and Korean dishes alongside a British roast. Live cooking stations let diners watch dishes being made from fresh ingredients, and the lunch and dinner menus have both added new varieties of food. Sushi and samosas are on the spread, and mussels in sauce are served too. A dessert section holds many cakes, and a chocolate fountain rounds out the sweets. Stays are limited to 1.5 hours, and there can be a wait to get in when the restaurant is busy. A bar area is also on site.

“Very good place that I will love to visit again. The reception was excellent and it was easy getting you seated. You will see enough staff around helping and ensuring great service. Adequate service points and more than enough varieties. I enjoyed my visit and will recommend it”

“Food isn’t too good, yes it fills you but if you went to china town and got a meal it would fill you more taste better and if you don’t finish it you can take it home. I personally won’t come here again. This is my 2nd time and thought I would see if it’s improved but if anything it’s got worse. The duck is 100% shredded pork. But they argue there’s duck skin in it…. Yeah they put some duck sick in it to make it look like it, but I know the difference in taste from pork to duck 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻 Anyway, I’d recommend paying a fee quid more and going to Cosmo or just go and have a normal meal l, it’s cheaper and you can take home what’s left.”

“When I bit into a piece of chicken I luckily noticed before I swallowed it that it was bright pink! I told a member of staff and they got the manager who was rude and dismissive of the situation saying all food is cooked when he was clearly looking at the pink chicken saying that is just the way it is cooked! Ageist towards me and my girlfriend thinking he could get away with it as we were young adults. Terrible service and very lucky it was spotted before swallowed or we would have been very poorly.”

“Was having high expectations. Although the food was all halal 90% of the dishes (selected bits such as pork), it overall simply lacked taste. Lots of variety, but everything tasted below average. Nothing worth a second round of eating. For the first time I felt that an unlimited buffet was still an absolute waste on value for money. Cross contamination between types of food seemed high. Pork items could have been kept in a sepearate station instead of alongside ither halal items. Additionally I've seen people litterally dipping Non-Halal marshmallows directly into the chocolate fountain therefore completely making it haram and no staff noticed/stopped them. The deserts section had listed non halal cakes on the allergy list on top of the counter. But none of the desserts had their respective name plates actually on them so we could know what cake was what. You had to guess what dessert it was. Ambience and staff were polite and professional. Table service was good. On point attention for clearing plates cleaning etc.”
