About Grand Pacific
Grand Pacific is a restaurant in Manchester, on Spring Gardens, set in a Gothic building with a grand staircase where the staff take your coat at the door. The roast comes with the meat carved at the table, and vegetarian and vegan versions are on the menu. Live classical music plays during the roast lunch. Afternoon tea is served and must be booked in advance. The bar makes cocktails and runs a happy hour menu. Service is at the table, and allergy information is available for guests who ask. A private hire room with two tables gives groups a space of their own.

Customer Review Summary
Scallops are the dish reviewers name most, called excellent and a highlight, with the fish and chips praised for outstanding batter and a Sunday roast carved at the table, with plenty of gravy, close behind. Diners also describe a grand, gothic dining room with a staircase, live music at Sunday lunch and friendly servers. One birthday table got a dessert with the message written in sauce, and a large party in the private room had its own decorations set out by the events team. The caveats cluster around afternoon tea and the bill. One group waited a long time for drinks, received the wrong numbers of tea and food, and got teabags where the menu promised leaf tea, with music so loud they had to shout. Others mention being charged for an extra cup of tea, a half-price discount that excluded afternoon tea, a disappointing mac and cheese, and a reservation where no one was available to seat them. At that last meal only the chips arrived hot, and the waiter apologised and offered a replacement and a substantial discount.

“Every visit has been wonderful, the food naturally is flawless, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The staff are so thoughtful and attentive but not overbearing, somehow they have struck the balance perfectly. Its the most comfortable place in Manchester for a gorgeous meal in style”

“We were a group of people who had booked afternoon tea days in advance, but when seated it took about an hour for our drinks to come. They also served the wrong numbers of tea and mixed up the order (even though they asked what we wanted three separate times), and while the menu said it was free leaf tea, we got teabags. One person in our group is deathly allergic to sesame and hummus, and so the staff gave her a separate plate without those. Luckily she got a bit suspicious of one of the sandwiches and asked what was in it, and it contained hummus. If she had not noticed she could’ve DIED. For the rest of us, they served the wrong numbers of food, claimed we had eaten one of the things we didn’t get, and mixed up our orders. We also found a short curly hair, got a dirty teaspoon, and had fingerprints on our dessert. The music was extremely loud and you could barely hear what anyone said, plus then having to shout and the place getting even louder. The servers were very nice and polite, but we had like four different ones which made communication quite hard, and we had to specify our order multiple times and they still got it wrong. I don’t blame the servers for getting the food wrong since they’re just serving what they are told to serve, but it was very chaotic and disoriented. All in all, I would not recommend coming here. I can oversee most of it since it was quite busy, but giving someone so severely allergic the wrong food while assuring it was safe to eat is not okay. That carelessness could’ve had severe consequences, had she not been suspicious and asked about it.”

“Absolutely sensational ! The ambience of the place incredible it’s called Grand Pacific for a reason the building is gorgeous gothic & very grand. You walk up the grand staircase where you get a great welcome from the staff that will take your coat if you want them to. It’s so luxurious! I took my mother for her birthday & it was such a treat we will definitely be returning she wants to try everything on the menu now. We ordered cocktails & our server pointed us to the happy hour menu which is until 7pm saving us so more cash on the 1st cocktails the food came out beautifully everything looked like a master piece including our cocktails! They also do sunday roasts here definitely goin to come back & try this they have vegan, vegetarian options & have allergy information. Because was my mother’s birthday they also came over with a dessert & the sauce read happy Birthday they really do look after you here, I would definitely recommend coming grand Pacific is just magical”

“Finally had my first experience of Sunday lunch at Grand Pacific. Although the most expensive Sunday roast I’ve ever had at £26 (May 2026) the food, atmosphere and service (thanks Nieve) were fantastic. The atmosphere was like being in Bridgerton with live modern music in a classical style. The dining room itself is impressive having seen it used in TV dramas and reality TV I was stunned when I walked in how amazing it is! The meat is carved at your table, good vegetarian options too. Decent selection of vegetables & plenty of Gravy!!! I would put this well on par with The Ivy but as you may notice only four stars and not five. The reason is down to the Men’s Loos. Disappointing for a restaurant of this calibre to have a loose toilet seat in one cubicle and a urinal taped up and out of service. Also no hand cream in the Men’s loos only in the Ladies apparently? Bit sexist if you ask me. At The Ivy, Mollies, King Street Tavern and many other decent restaurants they have luxury liquid soap & hand cream in both the men’s & ladies Loos! Think you have dropped the ball on your Men’s loos! Put things right fix the faulty urinal and dodgy toilet seat - give men some hand cream then you would get Five stars from me!”

“A homage to the golden age of high society, where deep rhythmic baselines writhe through the air and sweet botanicals tantalise the senses. A mysterious exotic oasis splashed with eastern excitement and seasoned with echoes of empire.”
