About Expo Lounge

Expo Lounge is a family restaurant at 766 Wilmslow Rd in Manchester, housed in a former furniture store that now runs as a lounge bar. Eclectic furniture and decor fill the room, a carry-over from its earlier life as a furniture shop. Staff show or seat guests to a table, then bring the menu and take drink orders there.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the cappuccino and proper coffees, which one says beat nearby cafes. Brunch dishes are called creative and beautiful, and one notes the gluten-free options. Others find the avocado on toast disappointing and portions on the smaller side. One group waited a long time to even be asked for drinks while the room was only a third full.

“I’m sure the food is lovely but we weren’t up for waiting over 15 mins to even be asked for drinks. Positive signs initially when we were shown to table quickly (& it was clear it’d been busy over lunch)… But it was only a third full now at …”

“This is an outstanding place. I love spending hours here just reading a book and having a mean cappuccino. The location is perfect, the interior is eclectic and vintage chic, and their food is decent, even if it could do with a bit more variety and an upgrade to their avocado on toast (it's a bit disappointing tbh, and yes, I'm such a millennial, this is why I can't afford a house, bla bla bla). The price range is not on the high side, but not cheap either. You have a good choice of tables, and if it's sunny and warm there's also seating outside. I have a favourite table and chair by now. Expo is the perfect spot to hang around while you wait for friends or family (not that I have any), or just to bring a date for a meal of the day or drinks, cocktails too! If you're stopping by Didsbury, then visit this Expo. The beverages alone are miles better (and slightly cheaper) than in some of the surrounding cafes, proper coffees and cappuccino's. And this is coming from a born and raised Portuguese, so I know. You won't regret it, perfect to chill and people-watch.”

“Visited on Sunday around 3 PM. It was quite busy, and after a short wait, we were seated, with a positive welcome. The table was pretty sticky, with glass marks from previous guests. The menu arrived, cutlery arrived, but the table was never wiped. Food arrived quickly, tasted nice, and portions were on the smaller side. I finished my meal and used the restroom. Washed my hands, but the hand dryer in the men’s restroom wasn’t working, and there were no tissues either. I wanted to leave these as important feedback, as these are easy fixes for Expo Lounge, especially seeing the place nearly full. More attention should be paid to these small details and service. Overall experience: 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Expo Lounge in Didsbury is one of the latest Lounges I’ve visited in a quest to fill up my Lounge Passport. Like any Lounge, they have an amazing gluten-free selection with so many options to choose from, and the prices are also reasonable. …”
