About Dimitri's - Tapas Meze Bar & Restaurant
Dimitri's is a Greek restaurant and tapas meze bar in Manchester city centre, and it has been serving the city for 30 years. The menu follows a mezze style, with small plates built for sharing across the table and Greek dishes cooked from family recipes. Calamari and moussaka sit among the dishes on offer, and the taramasalata comes with pitta bread. Red and white chequered tablecloths cover the tables, and Greek music plays in the background. Alongside the Greek menu, the kitchen also cooks Mediterranean food.

Customer Review Summary
Small plates of mezze and tapas anchor the praise, with calamari named most often, alongside meatballs, gambas pil pil, tzatziki, chilli prawns, feta beans and a moussaka one diner calls a favourite. Reviewers describe the cooking as authentic, with family recipes and good portions, and one family lunch of calamari, chorizo bravas, whitebait and Greek salad left the kids full. Staff come up repeatedly as friendly, polite and accommodating, and several mention the Greek feel of the room, including red and white chequered tablecloths and Greek background music. One notes the food came fast. The complaints are few and specific. One diner found the lamb chops fatty and gristly, though the chips were excellent, and the taramasalata had been unavailable for two weeks because an ingredient could not be sourced. One reviewer who had not reserved suggests booking in advance. When that diner raised the lamb, the server immediately offered to bring more meat.

“When I tried to book online for 5pm on a Friday, the restaurant's booking engine said no tables available for several hours. Plus don't bother tomorrow evening either. So, I rang them. No problem at all. Indeed, when I got to the restaurant after a short walk from Deansgate station, they offered me a choice of several tables either inside or outside. The place was pleasantly busy, but not rammed. I asked for a taramasalata starter which came with pitta bread. (£6.30). But there was none and hadn't been for two weeks. Apparently, one of the ingredients they need to make it hasn't been available and the pink stuff you get in supermarkets is way off the mark. So none. Which is a real pity, because I really love a decent tarama. For main, I opted for lamb chops with fries. The chops, while very nicely cooked, were rather fatty and gristly; the chips absolutely excellent. (Apparently they sprinkle them with oregano and salt). To their credit when the server came to ask how the meal was and I told him about the quality of the meat, he immediately offered to get me some more. I loved the vibe at Dmitri's, it really has a special character with its red and white chequered tablecloths and pleasant Greek background music. Along with attentive, well-trained, friendly staff all makes for a great restaurant.”
