Quick info
About Sicilian NQ - Restaurant and Bar
Sicilian NQ - Restaurant and Bar is an Italian restaurant and bar in Manchester on Turner St, serving wine, cocktails, desserts and gelato alongside its kitchen menu. Pasta and pizza share the menu with parmigiana, and profiteroles sit on the dessert list. Arancini are a draw here, and a Sicilian street food board with bruschetta is offered as a starter. The Sicilian sweets and cakes change over time, so the dessert selection shifts. An afternoon tea pairs savoury and sweet treats. Vegetarian, vegan and halal options are available, including a three-course vegan set menu with vegan cheese and Etna arancini. Beyond the dining room, an online shop sells celebration cakes, patisserie, gift vouchers, gift boxes, experiences and masterclasses.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the vegan and vegetarian cooking, with the Etna arancini and parmigiana named repeatedly, and one reviewer praising the vegan cheese. Close behind are the desserts, including profiteroles, tiramisu and a cannolo, plus the pasta and pizza, and the afternoon tea draws both praise for its selection and a complaint about the bruschetta board. Reviewers also describe friendly staff, with one server picked out for making a busy room feel personal, and one suggests booking ahead because the space is small. That tight space is the recurring trade-off: tables sit close to the door and toilets, and one family had a table knocked from behind. The sharpest complaints concern value and service. One diner found a service charge unjustified when nobody checked on the table, another waited a long stretch for afternoon tea after being told there was no milk for lattes, and a third received overcooked, burned meatballs with no apology. Even so, several close by saying they plan to return, and some mention the owner chatting with tables about the restaurant and Italy.

“We were pleasantly surprised to see the range of exciting vegan options at this traditional Sicilian restaurant. We had the vegan set menu, which was extremely good value for three courses, each of which were generous portions. The food was delicious, the Etna aranchini and parmigiana in particular were exquisite. The place had a lovely atmosphere and staff were friendly. It is also nice to know that some of the profits of our meal are donated to a animal rescue! We will definitely return.”

“Great food and great service , had two great attentive servers that checked on our table consistently. Great if you are vegan, veggie or meat eater! They also have a great recommendations on dessert options and portions for sharing! Met the owner Claudio, who was a really cool guy and gave us some background on the restaurant and Italy. Will be coming back again!”

“As much as their pasta and pizza are incredible good, the food is completely OVERPRICED FOR ITS QUALITY. I tried the board starter has only 2 cheap brucheta with 2 tomato sauces that don't match with the rest of the food. Not to mention the meatballs were OVERCOOKED literally burned and no one in the store, including the owner, seemed to care about the quality and didn't even tried to apologize as if it was my fault. The bartender is always amazing I think the owner should learn from her. Like I said pasta and pizza great but because of it's service honestly I don't feel at all like coming back x”

“I was incredibly looking forward to eating at this highly recommended restaurant after reserving weeks in advance for our wedding anniversary and celebrating with my family. I will start off with the positives: Food. Absolutely delicious and the first waiter (a young Italian lady) who was very helpful of which dishes I wanted to choose, she also helped my 2 children into sharing 1 main course meal into 2 separate bowls for them to eat which was ideal. I also had the profiteroles for desert which was delicious and my kids had some ice cream that they loved. Cocktail drinks were very nice and refreshing after walking around the city on such a hot day. Overall, very good and as I am a proud Italian myself I felt like my grandmother would have been impressed. Negatives: The cost. For 3 main courses, 4 drinks, 1 main dessert and 2 kids ice creams the total cost (with a £10 service charge I might add) came to a grand total of £111! Very expensive. I understand that rent and food imports are not cheap but to charge that amount for the food and drinks I felt was excessive. I’ve eaten in many Italian restaurants over the years and this was the most expensive place I have eaten at yet. Also, for £10 service charge you would have felt that was justified if the waiters were checking in on us but not once did they ask us how the food was and we were as a family. It was a very busy time of the day which is understandable but the restaurant was heavily packed in such a small place and my wife was getting accidentally hit from behind from the other table who were so close to us. Not impressed. I had to find a waiter myself to ask for some more food and to clean our table. 3 different waiters I had to deal with. The first one who was a young lady I liked but she went missing and never saw her again. Atmosphere. Poor. The restaurant is of course small but as I have said before, heavily booked and crowded so when you have a wife and 2 kids who can barely move to get to the toilet (which was also blocked by a number of people standing around drinking) is not ideal at all. I recall watching an instagram video of the owners of the restaurant who said that this is a ‘cosy place’, unfortunately this was not. It was just chaos, and the waiters were arguing amongst themselves which wasn’t nice to see. Love coming to Manchester and I’m a big supporter of independent businesses but this is one place I don’t think I can afford or even come back to again. Sincerely hope this review is read by the people who care about their customers and service and take this on board. All the best.”
