About Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar
Salvi's Mozzarella Bar is an Italian restaurant and deli at 1 The Corn Exchange in Manchester, and it has served the city for over 15 years. The deli side handles Italian coffee and fresh cannoli, so the building works for a quick stop as well as a sit-down meal. In the restaurant, mozzarella anchors the starters, including a caprese salad. Pasta dishes include the pasta tartufo funghi, and pizzas come in portions big enough to share. The deli shop also sells Italian ingredients and pasta to take home. The restaurant sits on Exchange Square in Manchester city centre.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the pizza and pasta, with the loaded Fantasia pizza topped with mozzarella, ham, cherry tomatoes and pistachios drawing the strongest praise. Close behind are the deep-fried dough balls, described as like tasty donuts, along with the parmigiana di melanzane, arancini al tartufo, caprese salad and pasta tartufo funghi. Service is repeatedly called friendly, with one server helping a diner with the menu in Spanish, and one table was offered a box for leftover pizza. Several mention the deli shop, and one praises the Long Island iced tea. Prices split opinion: some find them reasonable for the quantity, while others call the place indulgent. The sharpest complaint is a cheese board of tiny pieces of cheddar and soggy bread, which came with three drinks to a bill of £85 that the reviewer disputed, and a midweek diner found the calamari and gnocchi Sorrento bog-standard at full price. One reviewer ends by noting the restaurant is underground.

“Amazing food and drink! Definitely on the more indulgent side price wise. One thing I would love to see this restaurant do is put some speakers outside playing atmospheric music, to hopefully drown out the guy who sits outside Oyster Bar playing drum & bass full blast! 🤣”

“Don't dismiss this independent Italian nestled alongside the chains on Exchange Square. Great food, friendly service, a deli shop and probably the only place you can get an authentic carbonara these days - amazing”

“Good pizzas, pastas, and desserts. But the restaurant is underground. The staff are friendly, mostly Italian. Reasonably priced as well.”

“Very disappointed with my experience at Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar in Manchester city centre. I left feeling disrespected when presented with a bill that seemed completely unreasonable! Which I did challenge and refused to pay ! We ordered 3 drinks priced at £13 each (mostly ice), plus their version of a cheese board and some salad, yet the total bill came to £85 ! I was absolutely shocked and disgusted ! I specifically asked for no strong or “stinky” cheeses included but they still threw some in there which meant I had to pick pieces out. Unfortunately, the taste had already affected the rest of the board. The platter itself was underwhelming tiny pieces of cheddar, a few leaves of salad and basil, and some soggy slices of bread ! What made it worse is that the most expensive main on the menu is a fillet steak at £40, yet somehow this small sharing plate and 3 drinks came to £85 ! No cuts of meat in there as you can see in the picture with this review I mean if there was a dollop of cavier added I would understand the rate it was charged but for what I got hit with I find it was a very sneaky attempt of Salvis to rip me off! I politely raised this with the owner and asked for an explanation. I refused to pay that amount, and in the end was charged for the drinks plus service charge, which still came to £49! I don’t mind paying premium prices when the food and experience justify it, but this absolutely did not. I left feeling ripped off and very disappointed. I won’t be returning! Word of advice to owners your not the Savoy you're Salvis and it is not nice treating your customers with great service and banter but then disrespecting them with a bill that is totally unjustified! it just ruins all the experience and shows your true colours that you dont care about your customers otherwise you would have definitely checked the bill before it even got to me and made feel so dissatisfied with how you're trying to overcharge me ! We all work hard to earn a living and I hope you reflect on my detailed review and make some changes and stop being greedy and ripping people off !”
