Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return for the meatball starter, called rich, tender and full of flavour by one diner and paired with prawn pasta by another. Close behind is the carbonara, which one family orders even as takeaway, along with crispy garlic bread, steaks and pizza that one runner enjoyed before a half marathon. Staff are described as friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the family run feel comes up repeatedly, with several mentioning birthdays and other family celebrations, including a group of eleven who felt well looked after. Reviewers also call the portions and prices reasonable. The one critical review targets the carbonara directly, saying it used lardons instead of guanciale and cream instead of egg yolk, with stingy pepper and Parmesan, and left it stodgy, heavy and under-seasoned. Most other diners describe the food as consistently delicious, and a regular says service is reasonably fast across starters, mains and dessert.

“Carbonara was like uni students had cooked it. Not remotely authentic or pleasant really unfortunately. Lardons, not guanciale. Cream instead of egg yolk. Black pepper and Parmesan treated as if it was on a council electric meter and very stingy. Stodgy, heavy, not well seasoned, sad really. At £10 it was still a rip off”
  • Lynn Thornton
