Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the curries and the staff who serve them. Butter chicken, garlic naan and chicken biryani are praised as delicious and authentic, while others name the lamb shank, the Malabar prawn curry and a keema naan described as lovely. One reviewer calls the papadums the freshest and tastiest they have had, though another finds poppadoms pricey because they are not complimentary. Servers are repeatedly described as friendly, patient and professional, and the decor is called beautiful, with a few pointing to it as a date night setting. The main complaint is noise: one party of eight on a busy Friday says sound echoed so much they could not hold a conversation. Another reviewer arrived for a booked buffet lunch to find a sign saying the restaurant was closed for Eid, then was told rice and poppadoms were not part of the afternoon tea offer, and left. A pair breaking their fast were brought fresh dates and were quickly helped with the bill and takeaway boxes.

“Absolutely astounding service. Asif was phenomenal, very knowledgeable of ingredients, origin and history of recipe. Friendly, warm, welcoming, authentic Indian cuisine, the decor is beautiful, a true taste of Delhi. If you close your eyes, it feel as though youve been transported by Air India to Mumbai (no layovers-direct) Perfect date night vibes. Thank you. Especially Asif, you are a talented and much valued member of staff that oozes charisma, confidence and class. Thank you Asif. Kayun, you have a fantastic, full head of thick glossy hair, thank you for sharing your self-care routine with us- we never knew you needed to wash your hair in warm (not hot) water, so thank you for your words of wisdom. We will be back, and hope that after this glowing review, we get a discount. Love from Ruby and Keely who travelled far and wide (Leeds and St Helens) to be there tonight.”

“Sangam, Portland Street Manchester First impressions… WOW! 😍 The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The interiors and overall aesthetic were definitely a standout for me. ✨ It’s located on a main road, with plenty of parking available both on the main road and surrounding side streets. The food was really nice, and our total bill came to £162.70 for seven people, which wasn’t too bad considering the size of our group mix adults & children. One thing worth mentioning is the poppadoms are £2.10 each, which was quite pricey, especially as they aren’t complimentary compared to other restaurants. Now onto the service… it was pretty standard. Nothing bad at all, but equally nothing that particularly stood out. Would I visit again? Yes! 🤍 I’d definitely come back, especially for a date night. ✨ Stunning aesthetics 🍽️ Lovely food 💷 £162.70 for 7 people 🤍 Perfect date-night spot”

“Went here as a vegetarian traveler looking for a quick bite before going to a conference. They were busy because of another event that had hired out the venue. However, they gave very good food. Initially their manner was a little lukewarm, but was redeemed by the end due to the personal touch from the restaurant owner/manager. A great experience overall. Would recommend.”

“From the moment we arrived, the homely environment and exceptional customer service made us feel truly welcome. The food was outstanding; we ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan, and chicken biryani, all of which were delicious. The authentic flavors were a wonderful reminder of India and made us forget for a moment that we were in the UK. I would especially like to commend Mr. Mamun for his exceptional service. He took great care of us throughout our visit, attending to our needs with remarkable patience and a calm demeanor. Thank you for providing such a memorable dining experience. We look forward to visiting again soon.”
